Tony Award-winning performer Renée Elise Goldsberry has officially released her new single “Staring” and is inviting fans to join in the celebration by using the track in their own social media posts.
In an Instagram announcement posted today, Goldsberry enthusiastically shared the news: “My song ‘Staring’ out now!! Use ‘Staring’ in your next post. Tag me if you’re staring at somebody special!!” The post features the singer and actress looking glamorous in what appears to be promotional imagery for the new release.
The Love Story Behind The Music
In a previous Instagram post providing more context about the song, Goldsberry revealed that “Staring” is deeply personal, sharing: “‘Staring’ is the first single from my NEW album 𝕾𝖍𝖔 𝕬 𝕽𝖊𝖆𝖑𝖑𝖞 𝕬𝖒, coming June 6th! Staring is about my husband. I’m making a whole meal out of my man in this one. His beauty stops me in my tracks…but it’s the light inside him that blinds me.”
The heartfelt tribute to her husband was further emphasized in another recent post where she shared a photo of him with the caption “F.I.N.E. Look what God made for me” and followed up with “I knew he was fine when I met him. I’m still STARING.”
Album Debut Marks Major Career Milestone
The single is part of a significant career move for Goldsberry, as “Who I Really Am” will be her first-ever studio album, scheduled for release on June 6th. The actress announced this milestone exclusively to PEOPLE magazine on April 25th, marking a new chapter in her already illustrious career.
Goldsberry has been steadily building anticipation for the release, recently informing fans that she had “FINISHED my ALBUM” while reflecting on her productive winter season. She also announced a live performance scheduled at the Carpenter Center on Saturday, April 26th, which will showcase her musical talents shortly after the single’s release.
From Hamilton To Solo Artist
While many fans know Goldsberry from her Tony-winning role as Angelica Schuyler in the Broadway phenomenon “Hamilton,” this musical project represents her formally stepping out as a solo recording artist.
In fact, Goldsberry recently shared that she had returned to her Hamilton role after a two-week vacation, posting “After a two week vacation, I returned to Hamilton, and discovered re-entry can be rough! Full vlog on my channel now!” This demonstrates how she’s balancing her ongoing theatrical commitments with her emerging music career.
Renée Elise Goldsberry has had a diverse career spanning theater, television, and film. Beyond her acclaimed performance in Hamilton, she has appeared in productions like “The Color Purple,” “The Lion King,” and “Rent” on Broadway. Her television credits include roles in “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law,” “Fast X,” and “Girls5eva.”
How Fans Can Participate
In her announcement, Goldsberry specifically encouraged fans to use “Staring” in their social media content and to tag her if they’re “staring at somebody special,” creating an interactive promotional campaign that invites her audience to engage personally with the music.
Prior to the release, she had informed followers they could pre-save the track on Spotify through a link in her bio, building anticipation for the drop. With this release and the forthcoming album, Goldsberry seems poised to expand her artistic footprint beyond acting and into music, offering fans a more intimate look at her personal expression through original songs.
For those interested in seeing Goldsberry perform live, tickets for her April 26th show at the Carpenter Center are available, with the venue celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.
