Special Guest Lineup
The announcement reveals an impressive roster of special guests joining Onyx for this performance. The lineup includes acclaimed drummer Daru Jones behind the kit, DJ Lala Official on the turntables, and King Chip setting the tone for the evening.
Daru Jones is recognized for his work with artists like Jack White and has become one of the most sought-after drummers in both hip-hop and rock circles. DJ Lala brings her expertise on the wheels of steel, while King Chip (formerly known as Chip Tha Ripper) will help kick off the night’s festivities.
Onyx’s Continuing Legacy
The upcoming Whisky A GoGo show is just one highlight in what appears to be a busy 2025 for Onyx. According to recent social media posts, the group is also scheduled to perform at Rhyme Fest LA on August 16, 2025, alongside hip-hop heavyweights including Xzibit, Dilated Peoples, DJ Quik, and many others.
Sticky Fingaz, whose real name is Kirk Jones, has maintained a prominent presence in both music and acting since Onyx’s formation in the early 1990s. The Queens, New York native first rose to fame as part of Onyx alongside Fredro Starr, with their breakthrough hit “Slam” becoming a defining anthem of 1990s hip-hop.
Beyond their classic hits, Onyx continues to release new music. They recently dropped a new album titled “Lower East Side,” fully produced by Lord Nez. The album has been receiving positive feedback from fans and critics alike, with one Instagram post describing it as “flames” and encouraging hip-hop enthusiasts to check it out.
Documentary In The Works
Adding to their busy schedule, Sticky Fingaz also has a documentary in development. According to recent posts, “STICKY The Documentary” is set for release in Summer 2025. The documentary is executive produced by Kirk “Sticky Fingaz” Jones himself, alongside Mi Ay Million, promising to deliver an intimate look at the rapper’s life and career.
The announcement post for the documentary teases fans to “Get Your Popcorn Ready!! You Don’t Want To Miss This,” suggesting the film will offer substantial insights into the artist’s journey.
Global Collaboration
Onyx has maintained relevance through collaborative projects as well. Recently, they released “Paris is Burning,” a collaboration with French group L’Uzine. The track, available on all digital streaming platforms via 100 Mad, showcases Onyx’s international appeal and their continued willingness to explore creative partnerships.
Another recent collaboration titled “Top Shottaz” from the “Unholy Scriptures” album features Ayoo Bigz, Spit Gemz, and Sticky Fingaz, further demonstrating the group’s ongoing influence in hip-hop.
