Nine-time Grammy nominee Natalie Grant is set to take the stage at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday, May 28, delivering a stirring rendition of the national anthem to kick off the 107th Running of the Indianapolis 500. Grant shared the news on her Instagram feed Wednesday, captioning the announcement, “This one will hit you right in your feels. 🥹🇺🇸 Nine-time Grammy nominee @nataliegrant will perform the national anthem before the start of Sunday’s #Indy500 presented by @gainbridgesport! #ThisIsMay | #INDYCAR”.
Anthem Spotlight
Grant will stand on the famed “Yard of Bricks,” greeting a live crowd expected to exceed 300,000 spectators and millions of viewers around the globe. Singing the national anthem at Indianapolis is a storied tradition: the song symbolizes unity and patriotism, setting an emotional tone before drivers hit speeds over 230 mph. The performance will air live on NBC as part of the pre-race broadcast, and Grant’s powerful vocals and heartfelt delivery promise to add a defining moment to the pre-race pageantry.
A Stellar Career
Born December 21, 1971, in Seattle, Natalie Diane Grant moved to Nashville in her early 20s to pursue a music career. Since releasing her self-titled debut in 1997, she has issued ten studio albums, earning nine Grammy nominations and multiple GMA Dove Awards. Chart-topping singles like “Held,” “Your Great Name,” and “Clean” have cemented her status as one of Christian music’s most consistent hitmakers. Her albums Awaken (2005) and Be One (2015) both debuted in the Top 50 on the Billboard 200, and she has sold over 2 million records to date.
Grant also co-founded The Home Foundation, focusing on aid for orphans and vulnerable children worldwide. Beyond the studio, she speaks at faith conferences, hosts songwriting retreats, and maintains a following of more than half a million on Instagram.
Spring Tour Plans
Fans excited to hear Grant live have even more to look forward to later this year. MercyMe, the Grammy-nominated Christian rock band, recently opened ticket presales for a Spring Tour featuring Grant alongside Sam Wesley. In a post on MercyMe’s Instagram account, presale access ran May 6–8 with code MMFALL25 at MercyMe.org. The trek will visit major markets across North America, giving audiences multiple chances to experience Grant’s dynamic stage presence.
Recent Collaborations
Grant’s versatility extends beyond Christian radio. Late last year, she teamed with Dolly Parton on a cover of Parton’s classic “Step By Step,” which became one of the most added songs on Adult Contemporary radio. Earlier this spring, she appeared on the cover of People Health magazine alongside asthma advocate Gracie Herms, sharing her journey and raising awareness for respiratory health.
As engines roar to life at 12:45 p.m. ET on Sunday, Grant will deliver a moment of unity with her voice soaring over the track. It’s another milestone in a career defined by acclaim, service, and emotional authenticity—and a reminder that music plays a special role in America’s most beloved sporting events.
