Shipping Struggles Force Change

In a candid Instagram update, Australian keyboardist and singer Lachy Doley announced that he’s temporarily closed his Bandcamp store to physical record sales. “Hey Guys. I’ve sadly had to close my Bandcamp store to physical records for now,” Doley wrote, citing skyrocketing postage fees, unexpected customs taxes and the growing stress of lost or damaged deliveries. The move affects both vinyl and CD orders, effectively shifting all in-person sales to his upcoming shows.

Rising Costs And Operational Headaches

Doley broke down the factors that made continued shipping unsustainable. “Between the long hours of data entry, packing orders, postage costs doubling, lost or damaged deliveries, even returned deliveries from unexpected customs taxes then the stress of letting people down and losing fans… it’s become completely un-sustainable for an independent artist like me,” he explained. For an act that operates outside major label infrastructure, the administrative burden of managing orders from his home studio outweighed the rewards.

While he conceded that the decision wasn’t easy, Doley stressed it was necessary to maintain quality service. “Therefore for now the only way to grab my vinyls or CDs is at a show. Otherwise digital download album sales are still an option,” he wrote. Fans who prefer physical copies will need to catch him on tour, and digital consumers can continue to support him online.

Upcoming Live Opportunities

As a silver lining, Doley highlighted several upcoming appearances where attendees can buy merchandise directly from his merch table. In one Instagram post, he teased “PART 2” of his tour kicking off in July, inviting fans to secure vinyls and CDs on site. Another post revealed his return to the Festival International du Blues de Tremblant after a six-year absence, promising to reconnect with North American audiences in a live setting.

Those two engagements are just the beginning of a busy season. Back in February, Doley shared excitement about joining the Jam Cruise 2026 lineup alongside acts like Lettuce, Dumpstaphunk and New Mastersounds. While that boutique festival takes place at sea, it’s another chance for dedicated followers to pick up signed records directly from the artist.

Digital Downloads Remain Unaffected

Despite the shake-up for physical media, Doley made clear that his Bandcamp store remains open for digital sales. All albums and singles are still available as high-quality downloads, making it easy for fans around the world to stream or own his latest work instantly. “I hope this won’t be forever as I know I don’t play everywhere and I will do my best to try and get this sorted,” he added, underscoring his commitment to finding a better solution.

Industry observers say Doley’s situation reflects wider challenges for independent artists selling merch directly. With shipping rates continuing to climb, many musicians weigh the cost of in-house fulfillment against third-party services or shifting solely to digital. By redirecting physical sales to live events, Doley can cut overheads while enhancing fan engagement at shows.

Looking ahead, he’s optimistic about restoring full online availability once logistics improve. Until then, collectors will need to catch him live or opt for a download. Either way, the keyboardist’s energetic performances and soulful grooves will be available—just with fewer handling headaches behind the scenes.

As one of Australia’s most in-demand blues-rock performers, Lachy Doley has built a global following through relentless touring and raw musicality. This pause in Bandcamp physical sales may be temporary, but it highlights the evolving realities of music distribution for indie artists.

Even as he navigates these challenges, Doley’s fans can look forward to hearing him live—and snagging those coveted vinyl and CD editions straight from the stage.
