Rap icon Kid Cudi has taken to Instagram to express his appreciation for the overwhelming fan response to his latest single, ‘FOREVER.’ The artist shared a heartfelt message thanking listeners for connecting with the track on a deeper level.
“Thank you all so much for the love on ‘FOREVER’,” Cudi wrote in his post, accompanied by a series of images showcasing studio moments and performance stills. “We spent some real time perfecting this record. The images shared in his post feature Cudi in what appears to be various studio and promotional settings for the new track, highlighting the behind-the-scenes effort that went into creating the song.
The single, which was released on April 18, is a collaboration with fellow artist Dom, as revealed in an earlier Instagram post where they announced the track. According to previous posts, the duo finished the song the night before a performance at Madison Square Garden, marking their first time performing together.
“We went to the studio to write something that takes you to a happier time and place,” Cudi and Dom shared in their announcement post. “We’d never worked together before, but somehow we knew this one would be special.”
In another post celebrating the release, they elaborated on the creative process: “We finished this song the night before Madison Square Garden… we had no idea how it was going to go down. We’d never performed together before, but afterwards we immediately knew this was the one.”
The positive reception to ‘FOREVER’ seems particularly meaningful to Cudi, who appears touched by how fans have connected emotionally with the track. This emotional connection with his audience has been a hallmark of his career since his breakthrough in the late 2000s.
The release of ‘FOREVER’ comes amid a busy period for Cudi, who has several projects in the works. The rapper recently announced a short film titled ‘NEVERLAND,’ produced by Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions and directed by Ti West. The film will debut at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 7 and will also be screened at AMC theaters in June.
‘NEVERLAND’ is not just a film but also the name of the first single from Cudi’s upcoming album. In his announcement post, Cudi expressed excitement for fans to see what he described as “a huge passion project” that’s “different and something u haven’t seen before.”
Additionally, Cudi has been working on a new brand called WZRD, which he announced will be launching soon with the tagline “Made in Tokyo.” He’s also been sharing episodes of a series called “Gary & Jonesy” on his social media, showcasing his expanding creative ventures beyond music.
Born Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi, Kid Cudi has built a career marked by emotional vulnerability and genre-bending music. He first gained major attention with his debut mixtape ‘A Kid Named Cudi’ in 2008, which led to his signing with Kanye West’s GOOD Music.
His journey has included forays into acting, fashion, and various creative endeavors. In a throwback post he recently shared, Cudi reflected on winning the Groundbreaker award at the Critic’s Choice Celebration of Black Cinema Awards for his animated Netflix project ‘Entergalactic.’
“We all worked our asses off on that project, and it really felt awesome to be recognized,” he wrote, adding that he hoped his acceptance speech would “inspire you to keep going and never give up on you.”
