The official page of DRAG: The Musical has announced the release of the highly anticipated album. The page shared the news on Instagram with a simple yet impactful message: “The curtain is up. The album is out💋.”
The Instagram clip shows what appears to be promotional artwork for the album, capturing the essence of this boundary-crossing musical project that brings together stars from both the drag and theater worlds.
Star-Studded Collaboration
The album features an impressive roster of talent spanning multiple entertainment spheres. Minnelli herself headlines the project alongside drag royalty, including Alaska 5000, Jujubee, and Lagoona Bloo. The cast also includes Broadway veterans and performers such as Adam Pascal, Nick Adams, Eddie Korbich, and Jelaine Marcos.
Music and lyrics for the project come from a collaborative team, including Tomas Costanza, Alaska 5000, and Ash Gordon. The musical direction and keyboard work were handled by Andrew Orbison, with guitars by Ariel Bellvalaire, Max Wagner, and Brad, while Jazzy provides the drum beats.
Production Powerhouse
Behind the scenes, the album boasts equally impressive production credentials. Nicholas Kaiser serves as executive producer, while Minnelli herself took on a producer role alongside Tomas Costanza. The album was mixed by Davey Badi and engineered by Drew Levy, with special thanks extended to several contributors, including David Charpentier, Ryan Aceto, PEG Records, and ADA Music.
The musical project appears to be gathering significant acclaim. In a previous Instagram post, Minnelli shared that “Drag: The Musical” has received several honors, including a GLAAD Media Award, a Queerty Award, and nominations for six Lortel Awards from the Off-Broadway League.
The release of this album marks another milestone in a career defined by reinvention and artistic excellence, proving that Liza Minnelli’s star power remains undiminished even as she enters her eighth decade in the spotlight.
