Upcoming Shows For Reid And Glover
Tonight, May 22, guitarist Vernon Reid brings his FreeFormFunkyFreqs project to 118 North Wayne, kicking off a three-night swing through the U.S. Northeast and West Coast. Doors open at 7 p.m. for a night of improvisation, heavy grooves and Reid’s signature sonic explorations.
On May 24 and 25, Reid is joined by Living Colour frontman Corey Glover for The Soul Experience, a duo set that blends gospel, blues and vintage soul. They hit Live at the Falcon in Marlborough, Massachusetts, on Wednesday at 7 p.m., then cross the country to Small Batch Cellars in Napa, California, for a 4 p.m. matinee on Thursday.

What To Expect
FreeFormFunkyFreqs is Reid’s long-running outlet for free-form fusion. It’s heavy on improvisation, with nods to jazz, rock and funk, and fueled by Reid’s boundary-pushing guitar work. Corey Glover’s Soul Experience turns up the heat on classic soul and R&B standards, spotlighting Glover’s powerhouse vocals and Reid’s hot-wired solos.
Fans can anticipate a mix of deep cuts and crowd favorites. The pair have teased covers of Otis Redding and Al Green alongside spontaneous jams. Expect tight grooves underpinned by Reid’s effects-laden riffs and Glover’s charismatic stage presence.
Living Colour Legacy
Reid and Glover co-founded Living Colour in New York City in 1984. Their debut album Vivid (1988) went platinum, powered by the Grammy-winning single “Cult of Personality.” Over nearly four decades, they’ve mixed hard rock, funk and metal, tackling social issues with incendiary lyrics and virtuosic performances.
Living Colour remains active, celebrating the 35th anniversary of their landmark album Times Up with a European tour this spring. On Instagram, the band shared highlights from sold-out shows in Antwerp and Haarlem, underscoring their enduring appeal.
