Sabrina Carpenter made her long-awaited Barcelona debut on June 1, headlining Primavera Sound’s iconic stage and surprising even her most devoted fans. Despite multiple European stops earlier on her Short n’ Sweet Tour, this was her first time playing in Spain’s sun-soaked capital—and she made it count.
First Barcelona Appearance
In an Instagram caption following the show, Carpenter wrote in Spanish, “España te amo te amo te amo,” a heartfelt “Spain, I love you, I love you, I love you,” that set social feeds ablaze. She called it “what a special show and special crowd,” adding that while it was her first Barcelona gig, “most certainly won’t be the last.”
Onstage, Carpenter balanced soaring pop melodies with playful choreography, leading fans through hits like “Fast Times” and “Skinny Dipping.” Between songs she paused to soak in the roar of more than 40,000 festivalgoers, many of whom sang back every lyric in perfect unison.
Union Through Music
The pop star saved special thanks for her on-road family: “My amazing talented hard working band, dancers and crew,” she wrote. Then she gave a shout-out to the “brilliant” team behind the show—@riclip5, @lockerview, @sarahcarpenter, @humanprsn, @krispooley, @mssjb, @jaredellner and @evaniefrausto—naming each as essential to her festival debut.
By the time Carpenter closed with “Feather,” the crowd was on its feet, clapping and chanting her name long after the final note faded. Social media lit up with fans praising her vocal precision, electric stage presence and genuine gratitude.
From Tour Warm-ups To Festival Spotlight
Just weeks earlier, Carpenter had been powering through her Short n’ Sweet tour’s European leg. In a May Instagram post celebrating back-to-back shows in Copenhagen and Stockholm, she gushed, “Copenhagen + Stockholm…and that’s a wrap on Short n’ Sweet tour Europe leg!!!! These shows were straight out of my dreams.” The quick succession of headline concerts had fine-tuned her live production and built anticipation for a festival set of this scale.
While her own tour dates sold out dozens of theaters, Primavera Sound’s open-air audience posed a different challenge—one Carpenter embraced wholeheartedly. She traded arena pyrotechnics for festival lighting rigs, adapting her choreography to a massive stage and proving she can hold her own against any headliner on a multi-day lineup.
Looking Ahead
With the Spanish leg of her festival run now checked off, Carpenter hinted at more dates to come. Festival promoters in cities like Madrid and Valencia are reportedly in talks to book her for late summer events. Meanwhile, her next album campaign remains shrouded in secrecy, though hints of new music have surfaced in her Instagram Stories.
As she departed Barcelona, Carpenter left behind an ecstatic audience—and the promise of a swift return. “Thank you to everyone who showed up and sang they ass off,” she posted. Given the reaction at Primavera Sound, it’s safe to say Spain will be clamoring for an encore.
No matter what cities she visits next, this sweet-spirited pop star has proven she can turn a first-time festival crowd into lifelong fans.
