Peter Hook & The Light kicked off their much-anticipated 2025 North American tour on May 22 at MTELUS in Montreal, Canada. The evening featured a complete live performance of New Order’s 2001 album Get Ready, followed by a second set packed with Joy Division and New Order classics.
Tour Opens In Montreal
Montreal’s MTELUS was the scene as bassist and co-founder Peter Hook led his band through every track of Get Ready, including “Crystal,” “60 Miles an Hour,” and “Someone Like You.” Doors opened at 6:30 p.m., and with no opening act, the crowd was on Hooky’s set by 8 p.m. Fans were treated not just to the music but also to exclusive tour merch. In an Instagram post (https://www.instagram.com/p/DJ9kDMRNej_/), the band announced a limited edition print by Tavo Garavato and Garage Land, signed by Hooky and available at the merch booth alongside signed shirts, tote bags, socks, pin badges and posters.
Full ‘get Ready’ Set Followed By Joy Division Classics
After closing Get Ready with “Rock the Shack,” Hooky returned to the stage for a nearly two-hour run of fan favorites. The encore set featured Joy Division’s “Transmission,” “She’s Lost Control,” and “Love Will Tear Us Apart,” then shifted back to New Order standards like “Blue Monday” and “Temptation.” The dual homage highlights Hook’s unique position in rock history, having co-founded Joy Division in 1976 and later formed New Order after Ian Curtis’s passing. According to Wikipedia, Peter Hook & The Light officially formed in 2010 to revisit the legacy of his two former bands, often performing Joy Division material in chronological order.

Peter Hook & The Light have built a reputation for these immersive two-part shows, blending the post-punk urgency of Joy Division with New Order’s synth-driven dance rock. As Hooky told alternative radio station ALT 99.7 (https://www.instagram.com/p/497991789_18499973215059322), “We’re gonna play the [Get Ready] LP in full, and then we’re gonna do a Joy Division set, and then we’re gonna do a New Order set, so people are getting a lot of bang for their buck.”
With Buffalo and Carrboro already sold out, fans are urged to grab remaining tickets before the rest of the leg sells out. The run wraps on June 14 in Miami, marking a 13-date trek that covers two countries and two decades of influential British post-punk and new wave material.
From Montreal’s opening night to the final Miami show, Peter Hook & The Light promise a definitive celebration of his pioneering bass lines, timeless melodies and the enduring spirit of Joy Division and New Order.
