Performance Announcement
New Kids on the Block have officially confirmed they will appear on Good Morning America’s Summer Concert Series this Thursday, June 12. The Boston-born boy band shared the news via their Instagram account, posting a behind-the-scenes snap and the caption: “We’re so excited to join @goodmorningamerica for their Summer Concert Series, THIS Thursday 6/12! Make sure to tune in! #NKOTBonGMA.” Fans nationwide are invited to catch the performance live on ABC starting at 7 AM ET.
Broadcast Details
The Summer Concert Series is staged outside GMA’s Times Square studio in New York City, drawing thousands of early-rising viewers each season. NKOTB will perform a tight 15-minute set featuring fan favorites from their 36-year catalog, alongside selections from their current Freedom Tour. The band’s performance follows acts by other major artists this summer, reinforcing GMA’s reputation as a top morning-show concert destination.
Joey Mcintyre’s Role
As the youngest member of New Kids on the Block, Joey McIntyre (@joeymcintyre) has become one of the group’s most visible voices. Born in 1972, Joey joined NKOTB at age 12 and rose to stardom during the late 1980s and early ’90s. Beyond his boy-band success, he has pursued a solo recording career, acted in TV series such as Boston Public and TV movies like A Cinderella Story: If the Shoe Fits, and taken leading roles on Broadway in shows including Waitress and Godspell. In the group’s recent Instagram image, Joey and his bandmates beam under stage lights, dressed in coordinating summer-ready jackets and denim—a hint at the energy they’ll bring to GMA’s open-air stage.
Recent Projects
Off-camera, McIntyre is gearing up for a busy summer. On June 10, he teased his new residency in Las Vegas, captioning an Instagram Story: “Getting closer and closer to opening night of #TheRightStuff… Who are we seeing in Vegas on June 20th?” He also promoted BLOCKHEAD HQ, the group’s free fan lounge at Park MGM, and their Right Stuff Afterparty nights hosted by Donnie Wahlberg. These events will run through early July alongside the band’s Freedom Tour, which kicked off this spring and has included stops at historic venues from the Howard Theatre in Washington, DC, to Irving Plaza in New York City.
The band’s GMA appearance comes amid a celebratory 36th anniversary year marked by NKOTB Day on April 25, when fans shared memories and competed for a chance to win a Vegas meet-and-greet. Whether performing in major arenas or greeting Blockheads in pop-up lounges, New Kids on the Block continue to draw fans new and old.
As June 12 approaches, morning viewers can expect a high-octane, nostalgia-fueled set. With McIntyre’s unmistakable tenor and the group’s choreographed harmonies, NKOTB’s GMA debut will no doubt become an early highlight of the summer concert season.
