Puerto Rican merengue star Melina León stepped onto the Bayside Stadium stage at SeaWorld Orlando this past Sunday for the Viva La Música festival, treating a sold-out crowd to a high-energy set of her greatest hits. Known for her electrifying performances and powerful voice, León emerged in vibrant stage lighting to sing classics like “¡Esa Mujer!” and newer favorites, later pausing to thank her fans for their unwavering support.
A Night To Remember
On her Instagram account, the singer shared her feelings in Spanish:
“Todavía tengo el corazón lleno de emoción y gratitud por lo vivido este pasado domingo en el festival ‘Viva La Música’ en @seaworldorlando. Gracias a cada persona que estuvo allí, a quienes cantaron, bailaron y me regalaron su energía y amor desde el público. A mi equipo de trabajo —mis increíbles músicos, coristas y bailarines— gracias por darlo todo en el escenario y hacer magia conmigo. Y, por supuesto, al productor del evento @alvarogranados, gracias por la oportunidad de volver a este festival que significa tanto para mí. Regresar a Viva La Música fue un abrazo al alma. ¡Gracias por tanto! Nos vemos pronto!!! #quevivalamusica”

Photos from León’s post capture the evening in full swing. In one image, she commands the stage in a sparkling ensemble, microphone in hand. A Festival Close To Her Heart
Launched in 2020, Viva La Música has become one of SeaWorld Orlando’s signature events, celebrating Latin rhythms every Sunday through spring. The festival has welcomed a range of artists across merengue, salsa, bachata and reggaetón. For León, who debuted her first recordings in the mid-1990s and has built a career on energetic folklore and dance-floor anthems, returning to this stage was a homecoming of sorts. She credited producer Álvaro Granados with inviting her back and highlighted the festival’s role in keeping Latin music alive in Central Florida.
Personal Joys Offstage
Offstage, León has been sharing more of her personal life on social media, inviting fans into her world beyond music. In an Instagram post earlier this year, she celebrated becoming a grandmother, writing in Spanish:
“Ser abuela no es sinónimo de vejez, sino un tesoro de experiencia, amor y sabiduría.”
“Being a grandmother is not synonymous with old age, but a treasure of experience, love and wisdom,” she translated, as she cradled her grandson. León described how her family milestone gave her fresh inspiration and a broader sense of purpose both on and off the stage.
Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Melina León began her career singing backup in her teens before releasing solo material that led to chart-topping singles and tours across Latin America. Over the past two decades, she has become a fixture in merengue circles, earning respect for her vocal power and showmanship.
Looking ahead, León hinted in her post that more surprises are in store. Festivalgoers are already speculating about new music or a regional tour. Whatever comes next, her performance at SeaWorld Orlando’s Viva La Música reaffirmed her status as a dynamic force in Latin music.
