Mei Semones Adds Second Los Angeles Show

Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Mei Semones announced today that her show at Los Angeles’s LodgeRoom venue sold out so quickly she’s tacking on an extra night. The new date is set for July 17 at the Highland Park Ebell Club, a historic Pasadena landmark known for its intimate performance spaces. “LA & Houston! 👼 we have great news ♡” Mei wrote on Instagram, celebrating the instant sell-out and thanking fans for their support.

Tapping her mother’s artwork for the tour poster—a design credit on all Animaru tour materials—Mei reminded followers that tickets for the added Highland Park show go on sale Thursday at 10am local time. Fans can grab their passes via her link in bio, where Mei’s team will also share any low-ticket alerts for other dates.

Houston Gets A Bonus Performance

Not wanting to leave Texas behind, Mei revealed another bonus date in Houston on July 13 at the Asia Society Texas Center. That show joins her first Texas stop on July 12 at The Parish in Austin and a July 11 evening at Deep Ellum’s Club Dada in Dallas. English-language fans may spot the playful NASA nod—“Houston, we have added a show”—in her original caption.

This week’s announcement follows Mei’s debut North American headline run in support of her first album, Animaru. Earlier this spring, she celebrated sold-out shows in Brooklyn, Toronto, Boston and Los Angeles, while warning fans in Washington, DC; Carrboro; and Atlanta to snag low-ticket inventory fast.

From ‘animaru’ Release To Headline Tour

Animaru, released May 2 on Bayonet Records, marked Mei’s first full-length project. The album blends English and Japanese lyrics, weaving indie-rock, folk and electronic elements. In a PRS Foundation feature last month, Mei described her songwriting process as “seamlessly blending different genres and languages”—a fitting tagline for a tour that’s hitting more than 20 cities across North America and Asia.

Her May 7 release show at Music Hall of Williamsburg in New York sold out within hours, with fans tagging themselves in photos shared by Mei’s photographer @alechirata. Following stops in Philadelphia, Nashville, Chicago and Montreal, Mei will wrap North America on July 23 in Seattle before heading to Fuji Rock Festival in Japan on July 27, then Taipei on August 1 and Seoul on August 4.
