Clint Black brought his signature twang to Rome, Georgia, this weekend, packing The Forum River Center with longtime fans and newcomers alike. Posting a snapshot of the evening on Instagram, the country star wrote, “When in Rome…, Georgia—you’ve gotta play The Forum River Center! Thanks for a great turnout!” His enthusiasm was echoed by a sold-out crowd who sang along to every verse.

A Warm Welcome At The Forum River Center

The Forum River Center, a 2,500-seat venue on the banks of the Oostanaula River, proved to be the perfect setting for Black’s mix of honky-tonk hits and deeper album cuts. Fans streamed in well before showtime, swaying to an opening set by rising country artist Meg Moroney. When Black stepped onstage in his trademark black vest and Stetson hat, he was greeted by cheers and applause that carried through his first chord.

Tour Momentum: Back On The Blacktop In Full Swing

This stop marks the second leg of Black’s Back On The Blacktop Tour, which kicked off earlier this month. In an earlier Instagram post, he teased, “Back on the Blacktop for shows in Rome, GA at @forumrivercenter & Petros, TN at @historicbrushymountain this weekend. Who’s coming?” With dates winding through October—including Petros, TN; Battle Creek, MI; and New Haven, KY—Black is revisiting towns he hasn’t toured in nearly a decade.

His setlist blended classics like “A Better Man” and “Killin’ Time” with newer tracks off his 2019 release, Out Of Sane. Between songs, Black shared anecdotes about writing in his Nashville home and memories of his Grand Ole Opry debut. He also pulled a local couple from the front row to join him on a slow dance to “Nobody’s Home,” giving the evening a personal, small-town feel.

A Career Of Milestones

At age 59, Black remains one of country music’s most consistent hitmakers. Since breaking through in 1989 with his debut album Killin’ Time, he’s racked up more than 20 Billboard country chart toppers. A two-time Grammy winner, Black co-wrote nearly every track on his first ten albums—a rarity in Nashville. His induction into the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame in 2018 celebrated a legacy defined by songwriting and steadfast authenticity.

Offstage, he’s also ventured into acting and philanthropy. Film appearances in Rio Diablo (1993) and national support for the National Kidney Foundation round out his portfolio. Yet on Saturday night in Rome, it was the music and the fans that took center stage.

What’s Next On The Setlist

After an encore rendition of “Rhinestone Cowboy,” Black closed the night by pointing to his phone and thanking everyone who followed his Instagram updates, promising more backstage photos soon. He rolls into Petros, Tennessee’s Historic Brushy Mountain Theatre this Friday, followed by stops in Madison, Wisconsin; New Haven, Kentucky; and Battle Creek, Michigan.

Ticket holders can still snag seats for several fall dates via his official pre-sale at laylo.com/clintblack. Whether you’ve been a fan since the late ’80s or just discovered his groove, the Back On The Blacktop Tour offers a full-throttle glimpse at why Clint Black remains a staple of country stages.

Black’s Rome performance proved that even after three decades in the spotlight, his connection to the crowd is as strong as ever. As the last notes faded over the river, fans lingered in the lobby, trading stories and replaying highlights—testament to a night they won’t soon forget.
