Historic Port Chester Venue

The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY, is gearing up for a major night of live music on Friday, June 6. Known affectionately as “The Original Rock Palace,” this 1,742-seat landmark first opened its doors in 1926 and was reborn as a premier concert hall in 2012. Located just a short train ride from Manhattan, the theater has welcomed acts from The Rolling Stones to Jack White—and next up is multi-platinum tribute band Almost Queen.

Tribute Acts Take The Stage

“We’re feeling like champions knowing that Almost Queen is making their way back to The Original Rock Palace on Fri, June 6!” the venue announced on Instagram. The night kicks off with Philadelphia Freedom: A Tribute to Elton John, setting the tone with piano-driven hits before the spotlight turns to Freddie Mercury’s catalogue. Fans can expect faithful renditions of classics like “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “We Will Rock You” and “Don’t Stop Me Now.”

About Almost Queen

Formed in 2012, Almost Queen has earned a reputation for capturing Queen’s power-house dynamics and theatrical flair. With frontman Joe Pomanti channeling Mercury’s energy, the group delivers a full stage production complete with authentic costumes, spot-on vocal harmonies and that signature rock-opera sound. Their previous run at The Cap sold out in minutes, and advance tickets are already moving fast this year.

Philadelphia Freedom Tribute

Philadelphia Freedom opens the evening with a setlist dedicated to Elton John’s golden era. Expect crowd favorites such as “Rocket Man,” “Tiny Dancer” and “Bennie and the Jets,” performed live by seasoned musicians who focus on recreating Elton’s flamboyant showmanship. The tribute’s piano-based arrangements and costume nods promise an electric warm-up to the main event.

Behind The Scenes At The Cap

The Capitol Theatre’s technical team recently shared an Instagram update revealing the venue’s chain motors are off for a “well-deserved spa day,” ensuring lighting trusses and stage gear are in top condition. This routine maintenance is part of the venue’s year-round efforts to support seamless productions—from Broadway classics to tribute concerts.

Supporting Community Initiatives

Beyond music, The Cap remains committed to local causes. In May, the theater rolled out a springtime T-shirt fundraiser, donating 50% of proceeds to NAMI Westchester in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month. The limited-edition shirts sold out quickly, underscoring the venue’s strong community connection.

Tickets for Almost Queen with Philadelphia Freedom are available now via the link in The Capitol Theatre’s Instagram bio. Doors open at 7:00 PM, with the Elton John tribute starting at 7:30 PM and Almost Queen taking over at 8:45 PM. Attendees are advised to arrive early for courtyard concessions—featuring artisan pizza and drink specials—while seating is general admission.
