A #hydraulic Summer Ahead
Houston-bred singer Josh Levi took to Instagram this week to announce that his long-awaited debut album, titled HYDRAULIC, is due to drop this summer. In a post featuring Levi against a neon-lit backdrop, he captioned the snap: “debut album on the wayyy 🛞 it’s finna be a #HYDRAULIC summer ⚙️ make sure yall go pre-order that thangg.”
Translated for a broader audience, Levi is promising a dynamic, “hydraulic” ride—full of sudden lifts, drops and twists—mirroring the ups and downs of life and love.
Inside The Album
In a previous Instagram post, Levi opened up about the concept driving HYDRAULIC. “There was a lil boy that grew up in the suburbs of Houston that dreamed of being an entertainer,” he wrote, “but I had no idea the ride would be this wild. Just like the hydraulics of a car, life is never steady. There’s ups, downs, dips and twists. Love is the same way. And sometimes u gotta be your own mechanic to keep things moving forward.”
He described the project as “percussive and energetic but also really raw and full of heart,” noting that “there’s somethin on here for everybody.” Levi also gave a shout-out to his creative collaborators—producer Blair Caldwell and writer Mariel Gomez—for helping to refine his “crazy ideas.”
Rooted In Experience
Josh Levi first gained public attention as a Top 5 finalist on the thirteenth season of Fox’s The X Factor, later joining the boy band Citizen Four. Over the past few years he’s carved out a solo path, dropping a string of singles and EPs praised for blending R&B, pop and hip-hop influences. His signature look—braided hairstyles, tailored denim and bright kicks—has earned him style points on red carpets and in street-style roundups. (
An earlier Instagram snapshot read simply “braids crispy as hell,” highlighting his confidence in combining music and fashion.)
Levi has been on tour with artists like Flo Rida, performing in cities from Toronto (“toronto, u have my heart”) to New York (“baby blue in new york”), and even hitting the rodeo scene in Texas. Each mile on the road has shaped his lyricism and world view, giving weight to the themes of growth and self-repair that run through HYDRAULIC.
Pre-order And Release
Fans can now pre-order HYDRAULIC on major streaming platforms and digital stores. Levi’s call to action is straightforward: secure your copy now so you’re ready when the album goes live. While an exact release date has not been pinned down beyond “summer,” listeners can expect a blend of driving beats, candid vocals and production flourishes aligned with his high-octane vision.
As a Libra, Levi sees balance in contrast—light and dark, heavy and soft—and said he built HYDRAULIC around that push-and-pull. The summer ahead might be hydraulic, but it’s sure to be full of anthems that stick in your head long after the season ends.
From a neighborhood dreamer in Houston suburbs to an artist on the cusp of a major debut, Josh Levi is ready to shift gears. Those pre-orders are the first passengers boarding this ride—as he puts it, “Let’s ride.”
