From Comedy To Music: Joe Derosa’s New Venture
Comedian Joe DeRosa surprised fans today by announcing the start of recording for the new Salsa Windfall album. Posting to Instagram, he wrote, “Recording of the new @salsa_windfall album has commenced. New tunes coming soon, loons!” This marks DeRosa’s first foray into the studio under the Salsa Windfall banner—an unexpected but welcome shift for audiences who know him best for stand-up specials and podcast appearances.
Behind The Studio Doors
A carousel of images shared on Instagram offers a peek inside the space where rhythm meets punchline. The first shot reveals DeRosa at a mixing console, headphones on, tuning levels with intent. Another shows a close-up of a vintage microphone framed by acoustic panels. In a third, guitars rest on stands beside a keyboard, waiting for their cue. Each frame captures the excitement of the early tracking phase—warm wood tones, glowing LEDs, and, in one corner, a handwritten note: “Loons, bring the heat.”
Creative Collaborations Take Shape
DeRosa isn’t working alone. He tagged producer P.W. Chell (@pwchell) and songwriter James R. Pinkstone (#jamesrpinkstone), alongside labels Evening Shade Music (@eveningshademusic) and Pinch Records (@pinchrecordsofficial). Chell, known for his crisp arrangements on indie rock releases, posted back a studio-floor selfie, hinting at percussive experiments. Pinkstone, whose credits range from folk ballads to electronic collabs, teased “grooves you didn’t see coming.” Evening Shade Music confirmed on Twitter that the album will blend salsa rhythms with funk and a touch of improvisational comedy.
Bridging Two Worlds: From “rose Garden” To Salsa Windfall
Just weeks after promoting his comedy special I Never Promised You A Rose Garden—screening at the Angelika Film Center in New York—DeRosa is switching hats again. His Instagram feed previously chronicled packed Q&As, behind-the-scenes shots of festival screenings, and tour announcements for the Joystick Tour. Now, those venues and fans may get to dance as well as laugh, as Salsa Windfall sets the stage for performances that merge stand-up interludes with live band sets.
What’s Next For Fans
Details on release dates and single drops are still under wraps, but insiders say the first teaser could arrive in late summer. DeRosa’s team is planning a series of studio-to-stage livestream events, giving subscribers a front-row seat to vocal overdubs and horn arrangements. Pre-orders for vinyl and limited-edition tapes are expected to go live in early fall via Pinch Records’ web shop.
This new musical chapter finds Joe DeRosa expanding his creative palette. With every dial turned and chord struck, he’s proving that storytelling can be as powerful in grooves as it is in one-liners. Keep an eye on @salsa_windfall and DeRosa’s handle for the first taste of these “new tunes coming soon, loons!”
