Victoria Pedretti’s upcoming indie drama PONYBOI will finally be released on June 25. The film premiered at Sundance this winter, winning early buzz for its candid, queer coming-of-age story.

Behind The Scenes In New Jersey

Shot in October and November 2022 just outside New York City, PONYBOI marks the closest Pedretti has filmed to home. “It takes place in 2003 and I lived that time with teeny tiny eyebrows and extremely long nails,” the actor wrote in an Instagram post, sharing a behind-the-scenes snapshot of her character, Angel.

Sundance Premiere And Cast

PONYBOI debuted in Park City to positive reviews for its authenticity and nuanced performances. Pedretti joins co-creators River Gallo and Esteban Arango both behind and in front of the camera. Fans can find all public screenings or apply to host a local premiere at ponyboithefilm.com.

Pedretti’s Diverse Path

Since breaking out as Eleanor Crain in The Haunting of Hill House, Pedretti has balanced high-profile TV roles with indie films. Onstage, she most recently starred in Philip Ridley’s Tender Napalm at TheaterLab alongside Ben Ahlers, a project she promoted via her Instagram handle @then0t0ri0usvip. That performance underscored her versatility before returning to the big screen in PONYBOI.

With its June 25 release, PONYBOI invites audiences to revisit the early 2000s through Angel’s eyes and celebrates the storytelling flair of one of today’s most compelling young actors.
