Supernatural actor Matt Cohen is giving fans an inside look at the Supernatural Minnesota convention through his social media. The actor recently shared photos from the Creation Entertainment event, marked with the hashtag #SPNMINN, showing his enthusiastic participation in the fan gathering.
Convention Highlights
The Supernatural Minnesota convention represents another stop in Creation Entertainment’s series of events that bring together cast members and fans of the long-running series. Cohen, who portrayed young John Winchester and the archangel Michael on the show, has been a regular participant in these conventions over the years.
Earlier posts from Cohen’s Instagram show him fully embracing the convention atmosphere. In one post, he enthusiastically mentioned that the “VENDORS ROOM WILL BE LIT!!” adding the hashtag “#imcool” – demonstrating his playful approach to these fan events. Another post showed him participating in what appears to be a pajama party event, tagged with “#PJPARTY” and “##LFG” alongside fellow Supernatural actress Briana Buckmaster.
Behind The ‘Supernatural’ Connection
Matt Cohen’s connection to Supernatural runs deep. Cohen appeared in the series as young John Winchester, the father of the show’s protagonists Sam and Dean Winchester. He also portrayed the archangel Michael in the same series. His character appearances, though not part of the main cast, made a significant impact on the show’s mythology and earned him a dedicated following among the fandom.
The Minnesota convention is part of a circuit of Supernatural events that continue to thrive despite the series having concluded its 15-season run in 2020. These conventions allow fans to meet their favorite actors, participate in panels, purchase merchandise, and connect with other fans who share their passion for the series.
‘Exes’ Movie Promotion
Beyond celebrating Supernatural, Cohen has been using recent conventions to promote his upcoming independent film project titled “Exes Movie.” In a previous Instagram post, he invited fans to “See me in the vendors room at @creationent #SPNMINN convention this Friday and Saturday! Lots to tell you about all my Indy entertainment projects!”
The film appears to feature several familiar faces from the Supernatural universe. Other posts from Cohen mention co-stars including Briana Buckmaster, Ruth Connell, Adam Fergus, Rob Benedict, Richard Speight Jr., and Jim Beaver. This cast lineup suggests the project is leveraging the close-knit relationships formed during their time on Supernatural.
In another post, a colleague described the project as “Matt Cohen and I’s work fully realized” and mentioned they were thrilled to see a few minutes of the completed work, though noting it was “not 100% done (missing some sound, a few one liners, music).” This suggests the film is in the final stages of post-production.
Another post related to the project included additional cast members, listing Felicia Day, Mark Sheppard, and Ricky Whittle alongside Cohen and Buckmaster, with writing credits attributed to someone tagged as “@callteamlee” and production collaboration from Richard Speight Jr.
Convention Circuit Continues
Cohen’s appearances aren’t limited to the Minnesota convention. His social media also shows his recent participation in the Boston Supernatural convention (#SPNBOS), where he likewise promoted the “Exes” project and connected with fans.
The actor has also been showcasing other business ventures during these conventions, including a line of specialty lightsabers. In one post, he enthusiastically endorsed the products saying, “You will not find a more sturdy saber on the market! I am telling you, if you’d like to beat the crap out of your friends, these are the Sabres for you!”
The Supernatural conventions have become more than just fan events – they serve as platforms for the actors to promote their post-Supernatural projects while maintaining the community that formed around the series. For Cohen and many others from the cast, these conventions represent an opportunity to leverage their Supernatural fame into support for new independent ventures.
As the Minnesota convention continues, fans can likely expect more behind-the-scenes glimpses from Cohen and other attending cast members, further strengthening the bond between the actors and the dedicated Supernatural fandom that continues to support them years after the series conclusion.
