A Monumental Premiere At Imax Los Angeles

Logan Huffman, the American actor known for his work in indie dramas and supernatural series, stood before a sold-out crowd at the IMAX theater in Los Angeles last night to celebrate the premiere of Chapter 51. The theater’s gigantic silver screen and state-of-the-art sound system brought out every color and note from the film, immersing audience members in its bold visuals.

In his Instagram post capturing the electric atmosphere, Huffman wrote, “What a massive turn out for a massive screen! Chapter 51 IMAX Los Angeles, it has been such an honour to make art with my friends and family. Let’s keep film alive, can’t wait for everyone to see this on the big screen soon!” His enthusiasm echoed throughout the lobby, where guests posed for photos against an IMAX backdrop branded with the Chapter 51 logo.

Critics and fans alike praised the communal vibe. Film blogger Marie Chen tweeted, “Seeing the film with a live audience is a reminder that theaters still have magic no streaming can replicate.” Indeed, the LA event underscored Huffman’s long-voiced belief in the power of shared cinematic experience.

A Love Letter To Cinema

Chapter 51 has been a four-year endeavor, shot on formats ranging from 8mm and 16mm to 65mm and IMAX. Huffman highlighted the technical ambition in a prior Instagram update: “Shot on every major film format—8mm, 16mm, 35mm, 65mm, VistaVision, and IMAX—and crafted with rare tools like the Ben-Hur lens and vintage Panavision glass.” This mix of mediums gives the film a textured, almost tactile quality.

Beyond its formats, the project adopted a deeply collaborative spirit. In his DIcoEbMzAo9 post, Huffman described Chapter 51 as “a love letter to the art of filmmaking,” adding, “We built this as a family. A team of artists who wouldn’t let the soul of cinema fade quietly into the night.” That dedication was apparent as director Tyler Shields joined Huffman onstage for a behind-the-scenes Q&A.

Huffman’s Cinematic Journey

Born May 9, 1989, in Nashville, Tennessee, Huffman launched his career in network television before breaking out in the 2013 biopic Love & Mercy and later leading AMC’s supernatural drama The Returned. Chapter 51 marks his most ambitious project yet, as he serves as both lead actor and co-producer.

In mid-May, Huffman teased fans with a lighter side of his journey. On his DJuo7JZzXDR post he joked, “On my way to Los Angeles for the premier of Chapter 51—showing on IMAX May 19th. Slide across to meet Lawrence Hughs and Christopher Pace discussing the lucrative world of banana farming at my favourite place on earth Tropical Fruit World! Can’t wait to see you all there 🍌🎥.” The globe-trotting update underscored his playful approach to promotion.

Social media buzzed as clips from the premiere emerged online. One attendee posted that the IMAX sequences “felt like they jumped right off the screen,” while another praised the film’s sweeping orchestral score and practical effects.

Beyond Los Angeles: Roadshow Plans

With the LA date now behind him, Huffman confirmed on social channels that Chapter 51 will head to Lincoln Center in New York City, the BFI IMAX in London, and Tokyo’s Rialto Cinemas. He also hinted at festival appearances later this year, suggesting that the title could find life on the global repertory circuit.

This roadshow approach reflects Huffman’s late-stage desire to reconnect audiences with the theater ritual. As he wrote in his DIcoEbMzAo9 caption, “Because film matters. Because the people we stood shoulder-to-shoulder with mattered. Because cinema still matters.” For viewers who have long streamed at home, Chapter 51 offers an invitation to rediscover the communal magic of the big screen.

As summer screenings roll out worldwide, moviegoers will have their chance to judge if this four-year passion project lives up to its grand ambitions. For Huffman and his team, however, the film’s core victory is already secured: gathering a community under one roof to witness the art of cinema in full IMAX glory.
