Actor Jack Quaid has announced the release of his latest project, ‘Neighborhood Watch,’ which is now available in select theaters and on Video on Demand (VOD). Quaid shared the exciting news through a heartfelt Instagram post detailing the film’s production journey and his experience working with the cast and crew.
In his announcement, Quaid revealed that the movie, initially titled ‘Nowhere Men,’ was shot in Birmingham, Alabama, in under three weeks. “This was indie filmmaking at its core. We had to shoot fast & scrappy,” the actor wrote, highlighting the intensive production schedule that characterizes many independent films.
Quaid expressed gratitude for the “incredible, talented crew who made it all work,” singling out director Duncan Skiles for special praise. “I’ve been a fan of his since The Clovehitch Killer (which I discovered via RLM) so it was such a honor to work with him,” Quaid shared. “He has such a unique voice and I can’t wait to see what he does next.”
The images shared in Quaid’s post offer fans a glimpse into the production, featuring behind-the-scenes moments and stills from the film. Several photos show Quaid with his co-stars, including what appears to be scenes from the movie and candid moments during filming.
The film stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, whom Quaid described as “a national treasure.” Though they knew each other previously, Quaid shared that they “quickly became brothers over the course of the shoot.” He added, “I love stories about unlikely friendships and getting to take that journey with Jeff was one of the great joys of my career.”
Malin Akerman also stars in the film, playing Quaid’s sister. The actor praised her as “one of the nicest, most talented people I’ve ever met.” Quaid jokingly referred to the project as “the Rampage reunion the people have been clamoring for,” nodding to the 2018 action film in which both he and Akerman appeared.
The film underwent a title change during production, evolving from its working title ‘Nowhere Men’ to the release title ‘Neighborhood Watch.’ While Quaid didn’t elaborate on the reasons behind the change, such rebranding is common in the film industry as projects move from production to distribution.
In true Jack Quaid fashion, the actor added a humorous note about his role in the film, teasing that “at some point I get splattered with blood,” suggesting the movie will include some horror or thriller elements.
Quaid described ‘Neighborhood Watch’ as “the little movie that could” with “a lot of heart,” indicating his pride in what the team accomplished despite the constraints of indie filmmaking.
This release adds to what has been a productive period for Quaid. Earlier this month, he promoted another project, ‘Heads of State,’ an upcoming action comedy starring himself alongside Idris Elba and John Cena, set to premiere on Prime Video on July 2.
Quaid also recently celebrated the streaming release of ‘Companion’ on Max and has been promoting ‘Novocaine,’ an action film in which he plays a character who cannot feel pain. The latter was released digitally in March, with Quaid describing it as “our gnarly little movie” that he’s “unbelievably proud of.”
In late March, Quaid had previously highlighted ‘Neighborhood Watch’ in another post, describing it as “really special to me” and noting it would be released in theaters and on demand on April 25th.
Jack Quaid, son of actors Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan, has built his own successful acting career. He’s perhaps best known for his role as Hughie Campbell in the Amazon Prime Video series ‘The Boys,’ which has earned him significant recognition.
Beyond television, Quaid has appeared in films including ‘The Hunger Games,’ ‘Rampage,’ and ‘Scream’ (2022). He’s established himself as a versatile actor who moves between genres, from action and horror to comedy and drama.
With ‘Neighborhood Watch’ now available to audiences, fans of Quaid have yet another opportunity to see the actor in what he describes as a film with heart and, apparently, some blood splatter as well.
