Vanilla Ice, the ’90s rap icon known for his chart-topping hit “Ice Ice Baby,” is showing fans that when it comes to the rise of artificial intelligence, his approach is to simply go with the flow—or in this case, dance with it.

In his latest Instagram post, the rapper (Robert Matthew Van Winkle) shared a video of himself dancing alongside a small humanoid robot in his home. The robot grooves and mimics dance movements in sync with the dance routine of his hit song “Ice Ice-Baby.”

“Well, there’s nothing we can do to stop the robots so we might as well dance with them,” Ice captioned the playful video, adding his signature hashtags “#IceIceBaby #DancingRobot #GoNinjaGoNinjaGo” to the post.

Vanilla Ice has always expressed his thoughts on technology and modern life. Just days earlier, he posted about his feelings regarding the pre-digital era, writing: “The 90s really was the last of the great decades before computers ruined the world. Bring back blockbuster video, Beavis and Butthead and let’s all rip out our backseat and put in subwoofers. Lol.”

The nostalgic sentiment resonates with his fan base, many of whom first encountered his music during that decade. Ice continues to embrace his role as a ’90s culture ambassador through his ongoing “I Love The 90s Tour,” which he has described as “the best tour on the planet” where “everyone is a teenager for the night.”

While most people remember Vanilla Ice for “Ice Ice Baby,” which sampled Queen and David Bowie’s “Under Pressure” and became the first hip-hop single to top the Billboard Hot 100, his career has evolved in interesting directions over the decades.

After his initial rise to fame in 1990, Ice has reinvented himself multiple times. He transitioned through different music genres, including nu metal. Eventually, he found success in reality television with “The Vanilla Ice Project,” a home renovation show that ran for nine seasons on DIY Network. The rapper has also maintained an interest in car culture, particularly lowriders.

His latest robot dance video seems to perfectly embody this life philosophy—facing technological change with a sense of humor and adaptability rather than resistance.

The hashtag “#GoNinjaGoNinjaGo” that appears in many of his posts references his appearance in the 1991 film “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze,” where he performed the song “Ninja Rap.” This cultural touchstone remains a nostalgic favorite for many who grew up in the early ’90s.

Now at 56 years old, Vanilla Ice continues to maintain an active performing schedule. His tour dates have included numerous stops across the United States and Canada, suggesting his appeal remains strong decades after his initial breakthrough.

Whether he’s showing off custom cars, reminiscing about the ’90s, or dancing with robots, Vanilla Ice continues to maintain his place in pop culture—adapting to new technologies while still honoring the era that made him famous.
