Suzanna Son is taking method acting to a whole new dimension: fragrance. In Elle’s 2025 #HollywoodRising portfolio, the 27-year-old actress reveals that she assigns a personal scent to every character she plays. Personalizing Perfume For Fear Street’s Megan

For Megan—the perpetually laid-back stoner in Netflix’s Fear Street: Prom Queen—Son reached for Twilight Woods by Bath & Body Works. “She smells like weed and vanilla body spray,” Son explains. “She’s very Joan Jett. I love her—sometimes I spray that cheap vanilla body spray and smoke a joint to just be reminded of her energy.” The actress first teased her horror-film alter ego on Instagram, captioning a set photo, “Long live the bad girls of Shadyside!!!!” just days before the May 2021 premiere.

Fueling Her Role In Ryan Murphy’s Monster

To gear up for season 3 of Ryan Murphy’s Monster, Son tapped a contrasting fragrance: Dark Dreams by Ephemeral Dyadic. With top notes of saffron and mandarin and a surprising whiff of gasoline, the perfume mirrors the uncanny undertones of her new character. “She’s my favorite character to date,” Son admits, confessing that she’s continued to wear Dark Dreams off set—proof that her perfume choices aren’t just for show.

Beyond The Fragrances

The Illinois native first caught the industry’s eye in Justin Bieber’s “Anyone” music video before breaking out in Netflix’s Fear Street trilogy and Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. A musician as well as an actress, Son says her love of horror, fashion and scent all feed into her creative process. In a recent chat with Who What Wear, she discussed how mood-lighting and music also play a role in her preparation rituals.

Each spritz is a reminder that for Son, scent equals soul—and that a great perfume can be as powerful a costume as any vintage leather jacket or period dress. As audiences await her next on-screen turn, they can count on Son to deliver not just a performance, but an olfactory experience too.
