Director Cady Mcclain Champions Theatrical Fundraiser
Cady McClain, best known for her Emmy-winning work on daytime dramas, brings two decades of stage and screen experience to the director’s chair. According to her Wikipedia profile, McClain earned Daytime Emmy Awards in 1991 and 2021 and has appeared in series from All My Children to General Hospital.
In an Instagram teaser on June 10, McClain wrote, “Headed out to LA soon (after a quick stop in Atlanta!) to direct a staged reading of Eric Conger’s new play THE PARK. Every dollar raised goes toward supporting those in our industry who are struggling to get back on their feet due to recent events.” As Artistic Director of Axial Theatre, McClain has helmed numerous development readings, nurturing playwrights and talent since her days at Michael Howard Studios.
Supporting The Entertainment Community Fund
Founded in 1882 as The Actors Fund, the Entertainment Community Fund provides essential services—from housing assistance to emergency grants—to entertainment professionals. By donating all ticket proceeds, McClain and her team aim to spotlight the ongoing needs of behind-the-scenes workers, actors, writers, designers and crew impacted by recent industry disruptions.
Tickets are extremely limited and available via the link in McClain’s Instagram bio. The Marilyn Monroe Theater, located at 7936 Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood, welcomes guests for an intimate evening that blends dramatic storytelling with charitable purpose.
With Eric Conger’s sharp dialogue and McClain’s collaborative vision, THE PARK promises a vibrant reading experience. Conger’s work has been staged at regional theaters such as Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia and the York Theatre in New York, and his one-act plays have appeared at Ensemble Studio Theatre’s Happy Hour series.
Whether you’re a theater enthusiast or an entertainment professional, this reading offers a rare chance to see a stellar cast explore new work—while directly supporting peers in need.
By bringing together award-winning talent and a community-driven mission, this staged reading underscores the resilience of theatre artists and the power of live performance to unite—and uplift—an entire industry.
