Rap legend Snoop Dogg has announced what appears to be a major expansion of his business empire, claiming CEO status at both seafood restaurant chain Red Lobster and the iconic hip-hop label Death Row Records.

In a brief but eye-catching Instagram post, the multi-hyphenate entertainer shared a photo of himself alongside the caption: “CEO @redlobster & CEO @deathrowrecords ✅🦅.” The image shows Snoop in casual attire, making his bold claim to leadership of both companies.

While Snoop’s connection to Death Row Records is well-established, the Red Lobster announcement comes as a surprise to many fans. The Long Beach, California native has a long history with Death Row, having released his debut album “Doggystyle” on the label in 1993 under the guidance of then-CEO Suge Knight.

In February 2022, Snoop acquired Death Row Records from MNRK Music Group (formerly eOne Music), bringing the iconic label back under his control nearly three decades after his debut release with the company. The acquisition represented a full-circle moment for the rapper, who began his career with the legendary West Coast hip-hop label.

The Red Lobster announcement, however, represents an unexpected move into the restaurant industry for the 52-year-old entrepreneur. The seafood chain, known for its Cheddar Bay Biscuits and seafood offerings, has over 700 locations globally and would mark Snoop’s first major foray into food service leadership.

Red Lobster has faced financial challenges in recent years, filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in May 2024 after closing numerous locations. The company has been seeking new leadership and investment to stabilize its operations.

While Snoop has yet to provide details about his role with Red Lobster, the rapper has previously demonstrated business acumen across various industries, including cannabis, spirits, clothing, and food products.

His recent Instagram activity shows he’s been particularly active with Death Row Records. Just days ago, he promoted Charlie Bereal’s new release “Jack Move” on Death Row Records, demonstrating his hands-on approach to running the label.

Snoop’s business activities extend beyond music and restaurants. In recent posts, he’s shown support for the Los Angeles Lakers during their NBA playoff run, appearing on sports media to discuss his predictions for potential matchups.

The rapper also recently announced his upcoming gospel album titled “Altar Call,” set for release on April 27th, with promotional support from ESPN’s “First Take” crew.

Throughout his career, Snoop has demonstrated a knack for business diversification. In 2015, he launched a cannabis-focused digital media platform called Merry Jane. He also co-founded Casa Verde Capital, a venture capital firm focusing on the cannabis industry.

In the food and beverage sector, Snoop has previously collaborated with brands like Dunkin’ Donuts and Corona, and launched his own wine label, “Snoop Cali Red,” in partnership with 19 Crimes. He also published a cookbook titled “From Crook to Cook” in 2018.

Whether the Red Lobster announcement represents a formal business acquisition, a partnership, or simply Snoop’s characteristic humor remains to be clarified. Neither Red Lobster nor representatives for Snoop Dogg have issued official statements regarding the nature of his relationship with the seafood chain.

What’s clear is that Snoop continues to expand his business presence across multiple industries, cementing his status not just as a music icon but as a diverse entrepreneur with interests spanning entertainment, food, and beyond.
