Comedian and actor Rob Riggle is gearing up for what he describes as “one of the best weekends of the year” as he announced the return of the Big Slick Celebrity Weekend on May 30-31, 2025.

The Kansas City native shared the announcement on Instagram, inviting fans to participate in the popular charity event that has become a tradition in the city. “It’s Big Slick time again! Hope you will join us for one of the best weekends of the year 05/30 & 31! Find link to tickets in the profile! Thanks!” Riggle posted, alongside a promotional image for the event.

The Instagram post features a close-up shot of Rob Riggle in casual wear, pointing to his cap inscribed with the words ‘Big Slick’.

A Kansas City Tradition Of Giving

Big Slick Celebrity Weekend has grown into one of Kansas City’s most anticipated charity events since its inception in 2010. The fundraiser was originally created by Riggle along with fellow Kansas City-area natives and entertainers Paul Rudd and Jason Sudeikis, with Eric Stonestreet and David Koechner later joining as hosts.

What began as a poker tournament has expanded into a weekend-long celebration featuring celebrity softball games, bowling tournaments, and a star-studded auction. Over the years, the event has welcomed numerous Hollywood celebrities and raised millions of dollars for Children’s Mercy Hospital’s Cancer Center.

The actor has deep ties to Kansas City, having been born in Louisville, Kentucky but raised in Overland Park, Kansas. Before his entertainment career took off, Riggle served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve for 23 years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel.

Riggle’s Recent Activities

The announcement comes during a busy period for Riggle. Just days before sharing news about Big Slick, the comedian posted about serving as the master of ceremonies for a gala hosted by Merging Vets and Players, an organization that supports military veterans and former professional athletes. “Amazing night! Outstanding community!” Riggle wrote about the event, highlighting his ongoing commitment to veteran causes.

Riggle also recently congratulated golfer Rory McIlroy on completing his career Grand Slam with a Masters victory, sharing photos from Augusta National Golf Course, where the tournament took place.

In addition, the comedian has been active in other charitable sporting events. Earlier this month, he promoted his participation in the Ace Shootout, a golf competition that raises funds for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “Good golf and good laugh for a great cause!” Riggle noted in his post.

What To Expect At Big Slick 2025

While specific details about this year’s celebrity lineup haven’t been announced, past Big Slick weekends have featured an impressive roster of stars joining the five hosts. Previous participants have included Will Ferrell, Jon Hamm, Selena Gomez, Johnny Knoxville, and many others.

The event typically includes a celebrity softball game at Kauffman Stadium (home of the Kansas City Royals), a bowling tournament, and a Saturday night party and auction. Tickets for various activities are usually available at different price points, making the event accessible to a range of supporters.

For Kansas City residents and visitors interested in attending, Riggle directed fans to find ticket information through the link in his Instagram profile. As in previous years, all proceeds will benefit the Children’s Mercy Cancer Center, supporting critical research and treatment for pediatric cancer patients.

The Big Slick Celebrity Weekend has become more than just a fundraiser—it’s a celebration of Kansas City culture and community spirit, bringing together entertainment, sports, and philanthropy for a meaningful cause.
