Drag performer Nina West has wrapped up a successful run of her show “The Very Queen” with a triumphant homecoming performance in Columbus, sharing a series of dazzling photos that capture the magic of the production.
In an enthusiastic Instagram post, the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” alum showcased professional images from photographer Kyle Long documenting her Columbus performance, which served as the final stop of a tour that included Provincetown, New York City, and several other locations.
The performer expressed gratitude to her creative team, acknowledging the collaborative effort that made the show possible. “We wrote this show last summer, played some incredible cities from Provincetown to New York City and a few in between to bring the show back home to Columbus,” West wrote.
The Columbus native specifically thanked her writing partners Patsy (dragcatspatsy) and Erik Kornfeld, music directors Gretta Goodbottom and L4hoyt, and director Matt Lenz for their contributions to the production.
The images reveal elaborate staging, dynamic performances, and West in various stunning costumes that showcase her signature theatrical drag style. Several photos capture emotional moments on stage as well as the performer’s commanding presence before enthusiastic audiences.
The Columbus run was particularly special for West, who welcomed several guests including her drag mother Virginia West and friends TC Dubs and Amber K Nicole. The photos also highlight West performing with what she described as “the most wonderful band.”
The homecoming performances clearly held significant meaning for Nina West, who rose to national prominence as a contestant on season 11 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” in 2019, where she placed sixth and won the title of Miss Congeniality.
Before her reality TV fame, West (the drag persona of Andrew Levitt) built a substantial following in her hometown of Columbus, Ohio, where she has been performing since 2001. She is known for her acting abilities, comedic timing, and commitment to LGBTQ+ activism.
The post wasn’t just a celebration of past success — it also served as an announcement for West’s upcoming summer show titled “Sugar in the Tank.” The new production will debut in Columbus at Natalie’s Grandview beginning May 24th before embarking on a summer tour.
“My brand new summer show 𝙎𝙐𝙂𝘼𝙍 𝙄𝙉 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙏𝘼𝙉𝙆 will debut in Columbus at @nataliesgrandview beginning May 24th before hitting some stops this summer, including Rehoboth Beach, Atlanta, NYC, Key West, Ptown, and more!” West announced, encouraging fans to secure tickets through the link in her bio.
This announcement comes during a particularly active period in West’s career. Recently, she was announced as part of the cast of the film “All of My Dreams,” where she’ll play Ronny Lee Rose, described as “a fierce, fabulous former drag legend with a heart of gold, a powerhouse voice, and a cabaret comeback.”
West has also been celebrating the selection of another film, “Queens of the Dead,” as an official selection for the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival. On Instagram, she expressed excitement about the horror-comedy directed by DJ Trx, calling it “a crazy, wild ride.”
Additionally, West recently hosted Classic Stage Company’s “Classics Gone Mad” event in New York City, performing alongside Broadway stars in a show celebrating the work of Kander and Ebb. She also participated in the reopening of the iconic Laurie Beechman Theatre at West Bank Cafe, joining performers including Ariana DeBose, Alex Newell, and Lillias White.
West has maintained a strong connection with her fans throughout her various projects, regularly updating her social media with performance announcements, behind-the-scenes content, and personal reflections.
Tickets for “Sugar in the Tank” are now available, with West encouraging fans to “Get them before they are gone!” given the anticipated demand for her new summer production.
