Melba Moore transported her followers back to 1972 this week with a candid snapshot from her early career. The Broadway star and R&B powerhouse posted an archival image alongside two of her peers, simply captioned “#throwbackthursday Liza, Melba, Nancy The year was 1972 in NYC After My Concert in NYC Love Melba Forever Moore.”

1972 Throwback Photo

In the grainy black-and-white photo, Moore stands between Liza Minnelli and a figure identified only as Nancy—faithful to the original post, no last name was provided. Together they appear to bask in the glow of a backstage reunion after what Moore describes as “My Concert in NYC.” The photo reflects Moore’s early days offstage too, when she rubbed shoulders with fellow luminaries at a moment when New York was riding high on the energy of live performance.

Moore’s throwback follows a trend on social media where artists excavate personal archives to connect with fans. In recent years, she’s joined other legends in letting followers share a glimpse of the past—and in doing so, she underscores her longtime presence in entertainment history.

Moore’s Recent Projects

While June 1972 marked one of her earliest headline shows, 2025 has been equally busy for Moore—albeit in very different ways. In June she became a cover star for @indieincognitomagazine, celebrating new music and ongoing creative ventures. The post read:

That same month, Moore released her single “No Filter” through Mirrorball Recordings. She shared the news on Instagram, tagging the label and writing:

“NO FILTER New Melba Moore Release Available Worldwide Released 6-6-2025 Love Melba Forever Moore @mirrorballrecordings 💃”

Fans have also been treated to sneak peeks of Moore at work. In a July update, she teased a live-date announcement in Atlanta with the caption “Stay tuned 🎤 Atlanta Georgia 🏙️ 🎷 Announcement this month Love Melba Forever Moore Photo Credit: Ron Richardson.”

What’s Next For Melba Moore

Moore’s calendar is already filling up. She’ll headline a live R&B show at Wolf Creek Amphitheater on August 30, 2025, backed by a full band. Her Instagram graphic urged: “Save the date 8-30 Melba Moore Live In Atlanta With Full live band 🎹 🎸 🎤 🎧 Wolf Creek Ampitheater Tickets on sale soon 🎭 Love Melba Forever Moore @wolfcreekevents ATL.”

Alongside concert prep, Moore has dropped a series of upbeat “Business 101” videos to promote her latest track. One post simply reads:

“Business 101 Love Melba Forever Moore NO Filter: available now www.traxsource.com 🎵”

The multi-hyphenate singer, actress and talk-show alum continues to lean into digital storytelling, keeping her catchphrase “Love Melba Forever Moore” at the end of every update.

Through vintage snapshots and new releases alike, Moore reminds us why she remains a fixture in music and theater circles nearly five decades after that 1972 NYC concert. Her throwback photo isn’t just a moment of nostalgia—it’s proof that great talent stands the test of time.
