High-octane Father’s Day

Actor Matt Long kicked off Father’s Day weekend with a motorsport marathon. In an Instagram post on June 16, Long wrote, “What a weekend of racing! Spent my Father’s Day watching Le Mans, F1, and Indycar with the fam. Forza Ferrari! Forza AF Corse! Le Mans 2025! 🏆 Hope all the dads out there had a happy Father’s Day!” A pair of photos show Long and his children settled on the couch, eyes glued to the screen as endurance teams battled through night and rain in France.

From Screen Roles To Steering Wheels

Long, best known for roles in the series Rescue Me and Mad Men, has often shared his passion for cars off-camera. The former soap opera actor turned TV star studied at Marymount Manhattan College before going on to appear in the feature film Public Enemies. But when he’s not working on set, he’s usually tracking laps and checking pit stops rather than reading scripts. His latest post underlines that racing isn’t just a Sunday hobby—it’s a family tradition in the making.

Ferrari 488 Modificata Experience

Earlier this summer, Long posted another motorsport highlight: “SOUND ON. Got to take a ride in a Ferrari 488 Modificata tonight for 3 laps around @thethermalclub and let me tell you something there is absolutely no way to express how intense and mind blowing an experience it was. The speed of the car is epic but the braking ability and the cornering is so intense and aggressive and in your face that it is extremely hard to believe that the car can stay on the road… For reference we’re doing 158 mph on the straight.” His caption captured both the technical thrill and the pure adrenaline rush of sampling a track-ready supercar.

Checking Out Indycar With The Fam

Long’s Instagram also documented a visit to Thermal Grand Prix earlier this season. Sharing clips of him alongside IndyCar champion Alex Palou, he wrote, “Another awesome (and blisteringly hot) Sunday with the Champ and our friend Jim a couple days ago at @thermalgp. Thank you for the hospitality! Congratulations @alexpalou and @chipganassiracing on a stellar start to the season 💪🏆 ¡Vamos! #indycar #thermalgp #alexpalou #thermalclub.” Those snapshots offer a glimpse of Long’s connections within the open-wheel community and his hands-on approach when it comes to family outings.

Looking Ahead To Le Mans 2025

Long’s Father’s Day post also included a nod to next year’s big race. “Forza AF Corse! Le Mans 2025!” he cheered, aligning himself with Ferrari’s factory-backed squad, AF Corse. The 24 Hours of Le Mans remains one of the world’s most grueling endurance tests, and Long’s enthusiasm suggests he may return to the Circuit de la Sarthe in person when the gates open in mid-June 2025.

As he balances auditions and family time, Long proves that dad duties can come with speed—and a splash of engine oil. Whether he’s couch-surfing through multiple championships or hugging the guardrails in a prancing horse, his Father’s Day weekend shows that sometimes life calls for a pit stop in the living room.
