Remembering Vincente Minnelli

Vincente Minnelli (1903–1986) was a celebrated film and stage director best known for helm­ing MGM classics such as An American in Paris (1951) and Gigi (1958). Born in Chicago, he became one of Hollywood’s most stylish storytellers, combining lush visuals with human emotion. He and Judy Garland welcomed Liza in 1946, beginning a legacy of artistry that would span generations.

On Instagram’s #MemorialDay, Liza also honored her father’s brief military service: “Papa served briefly in the military seen here with soldier and icon, Joe Louis.”
