Brancato first rose to prominence at age 17 in Robert De Niro’s 1993 directorial debut, A Bronx Tale, playing the young Calogero. A promising breakout performance was followed by roles in television series like NYPD Blue and films such as A Simple Wish. However, in 2005, Brancato was arrested in connection with a robbery that led to a fatal shooting of an off-duty police officer. After serving nearly eight years in state prison, he was released in 2013.
