Actor Kel Mitchell made sure not to miss Easter Sunday with his family, catching an early morning flight from New York back to Los Angeles just in time for the special day with his loved ones.
The 45-year-old comedian and actor shared a series of heartwarming photos on Instagram documenting his Easter celebration, emphasizing that the journey home before sunrise was “SO worth it.”
In his recent Instagram post, Mitchell shared four photos showcasing precious moments with his children. The first image captures Mitchell with his two youngest children, Wisdom and Honor, all smiling widely for the camera. “Me and my babies cheesin’—Wisdom and Honor got my whole heart,” Mitchell wrote in the caption.
The second photo features his daughter Asia looking radiant in a pink dress, with Mitchell describing her as “a walking blessing.” The third and fourth images show his children enjoying ice cream treats, with Honor enthusiastically tackling his dessert and Wisdom beaming with joy while holding an ice cream topped with a cherry.
Mitchell summed up the day perfectly: “Ice cream and smiles—feels GOOD to be home!” He also included a Bible verse from Psalm 118:24: “This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”
The Easter reunion came shortly after Mitchell wrapped up his theatrical run as Moonface Martin in the musical “Anything Goes” in New York. Just days before Easter, Mitchell had shared his theater experiences on Instagram, posting photos from the production and expressing gratitude for the opportunity to return to his theater roots.
“This weekend hit different…Curtain closed, but my heart’s still wide open,” Mitchell wrote in a previous post, detailing his experience playing the character Moonface Martin during Holy Week.
According to his social media timeline, Mitchell has been balancing his professional commitments with family time. His decision to take an early morning flight home for Easter demonstrates his commitment to being present for important family moments despite his busy schedule.
Known for his breakout role on Nickelodeon’s “All That” and “Kenan & Kel” in the 1990s, Mitchell has experienced a career resurgence in recent years. He appeared in the sequel “Good Burger 2” alongside his longtime comedy partner Kenan Thompson, which recently won a Fan Favorite award at the Kids Choice Awards.
Beyond acting, Mitchell has embraced his faith publicly and released a book and song titled “Blessed Mode.” He’s also ventured into voice work and animation, expressing interest in creating “more anime with Christian themes” according to recent social media posts.
Mitchell, who is married to Asia Lee, has been open about his family life on social media, regularly sharing moments with his children and expressing his faith. In March, he posted family photos from the Kids Choice Awards, writing, “Mitchell family on the orange carpet at the Kids Choice Awards! Wearing denim because it’s timeless, just like our love for Good Burger.”
The actor’s Easter post highlights his focus on balancing his professional responsibilities with cherished family moments. By prioritizing being home for Easter despite work commitments across the country, Mitchell demonstrated his commitment to making memories with his children.
As Mitchell continues to pursue various entertainment projects, from theater to film and animation, he appears to remain grounded in what matters most to him—his faith and his family. The joy evident in the photos with his children shows that despite his busy schedule, quality time at home remains a top priority.
“Life lately…” Mitchell began his Easter post, showcasing how even with a thriving career that takes him across the country, moments like ice cream with his children represent what’s truly important in his life. Trivia
