Kate Flannery, best known for her role as the unpredictable Meredith Palmer on NBC’s “The Office,” has revealed her latest acting venture in the animation world. The actress recently shared on Instagram that she voices a character named Mary in Fox’s animated series “Universal Basic Guys.”

In a post to her 518,000 followers, Flannery asked, “Did you guys know I play Mary on @universalbasicguysofficial on @foxtv same night as @thesimpsons Sunday nights?”

A Philadelphia Native In Animation

Flannery, who frequently references her Philadelphia roots in her social media posts (using hashtags like #phillygirl and #hoagies in this recent announcement), has now joined Fox’s Sunday animation block, which has been a staple of American television for decades thanks to long-running hits like “The Simpsons.”

The series “Universal Basic Guys” airs on Sunday nights on Fox, placing Flannery in the same prestigious animation lineup as the longest-running animated series in television history.

From Dunder Mifflin To Animation

Flannery’s career has been eventful since her nine-season run on “The Office” ended in 2013. The actress has maintained a steady presence in television comedy while also exploring other performance avenues. She competed on the 28th season of “Dancing with the Stars” in 2019, making it to week six of the competition.

Just last month, Flannery reunited with several of her former “Office” co-stars to celebrate the show’s 20th anniversary. She shared photos with Angela Kinsey, Brian Baumgartner, Oscar Nunez, Creed Bratton, Leslie David Baker, and Ellie Kemper during NBC’s celebration events, captioning one post, “Happy 20th Officeaversary Thank you @todayshow @nbcuniversal @theoffice great to see these lunatics.”

In another recent post, she shared a photo with Creed Bratton, joking, “Marybeth and the guy with 4 toes. Sounds like a pop band from the 60’s.”

Public Speaking And Entertainment Career

Flannery has also been active on the speaking circuit. Just this week, she appeared alongside Leslie David Baker (who played Stanley Hudson on “The Office”) as a Senior Speaker at Lafayette College, where she offered inspirational advice to graduating seniors: “Any of your failures are just really opportunities to step up your game or pick another road.”

Beyond her acting, Flannery has maintained connections in the entertainment world. She recently attended the season 4 celebration party for HBO’s critically acclaimed comedy series “Hacks,” showing support for star Rose Abdoo. She also recently posted about meeting up with “Dancing with the Stars” professionals Pasha Pashkov and Daniella Karagach while their work travel schedules aligned.

Continuing The Office Legacy

Despite taking on new roles, Flannery continues to embrace her connection to “The Office.” In celebration of the show’s 20th anniversary, she posted, “Happy 20th officeaversary. I’d like to propose a toast! Here’s to the best fans on planet earth.” She also shared a video of downtown Scranton, Pennsylvania (the setting of the show), noting: “Beautiful downtown Scranton! Aww, if you know you know!”

Her new role on “Universal Basic Guys” represents another chapter in her diverse career, as she brings her comedic talents to Fox’s animation lineup. The show, produced by Red Caiman Studios (as indicated by one of Flannery’s hashtags), joins Fox’s tradition of adult-oriented animated programming.

Fans of Flannery can now catch her voice work on “Universal Basic Guys” Sunday nights on Fox, alongside the network’s other animated offerings.
