Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Reunion

Karan Ashley and Steve Cardenas, two of the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, are set to appear at Nickel City Comic Con in Buffalo this summer. Fans can catch them at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center from June 27 to 29. In her Instagram announcement, Ashley wrote, “What Next?!? @nickelcitycomiccon !!! It’s Morphin Time Buffalo NY! Come and see @karanashley and @stevecardenaspr June 27-29th!” alongside a photo of the pair striking classic Power Rangers poses.

As the franchise approaches its 30th anniversary since debuting in 1993, conventions across North America have seen a surge of original cast appearances. Nickel City Comic Con joins the roster of events tapping into 90s nostalgia by bringing two fan favorites back for panels, photos, and limited-edition merch drops.

Meet Aisha And Rocky

Karan Ashley first morphed into action in 1994 as Aisha Campbell, the second Yellow Ranger introduced in Season 2 of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Known for her martial arts background and upbeat energy, Ashley quickly became a standout member of the team. Off-screen, she co-founded the fan convention Rangerstop and Pop and has championed youth arts initiatives.

Steve Cardenas stepped in as Rocky DeSantos, the Red Ranger, that same year. His portrayal blended lighthearted humor with expert martial arts moves. After leaving the series, Cardenas continued to work in stunt coordination and maintains a role in martial arts instruction. Together, Ashley and Cardenas have toured global conventions, sharing behind-the-scenes stories and exclusive memorabilia with devoted fans.

Buffalo Schedule & Activities

• Autograph sessions on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (pre-paid tickets required)
• Photo opportunities in ranger gear
• “Return to Angel Grove” live panel on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
• Limited-edition souvenir prints and signed Power Coin replicas

Advance reservations for signings and photo ops are highly recommended via nickelcitycomiccon.com. Walk-up availability will be limited to ensure efficient crowd flow.

Last month, the duo appeared at Phoenix Fan Fusion alongside fellow Yellow Ranger Nakia Burrise. Their Instagram flyer noted, “All Ranger colors will be available! Come Morph with us!!” and showcased custom morphers, communicator props, coins, pins, and T-shirts—an indication of the variety of collectibles they bring on tour.

Tickets, Venue & Travel Tips

Nickel City Comic Con runs at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center (153 Franklin St., Buffalo, NY). Single-day general admission starts at $40, while three-day passes are $110. VIP packages offering priority guest access and exclusive merch are still on sale.

Buffalo’s late June weather averages highs in the mid-70s; light layers are recommended. The convention center hosts a mix of food vendors and local trucks, but nearby Elmwood Village and Allentown districts offer additional dining options. Attendees should secure hotel rooms soon, as summer weekends in Buffalo book up quickly.

Beyond Ashley and Cardenas, Nickel City will feature comic book creators, gaming tournaments, anime screenings, and a cosplay contest. Family programming spans all three days, making the con a must-visit for Western New York fans of pop culture.

From autograph seekers to cosplay enthusiasts, Buffalo fans have a full weekend ahead. The appearance of Karan Ashley and Steve Cardenas underscores the lasting appeal of a franchise that first taught audiences “It’s Morphin Time!” nearly three decades ago.
