A Classic Musical Revived By Ogunquit Playhouse

Ogunquit Playhouse has officially unveiled its star-studded cast for the upcoming production of Guys & Dolls, opening June 19. Under the direction and choreography of Emmy winner Al Blackstone, this revival promises to inject new energy into Frank Loesser’s iconic 1950s musical comedy.

Meet The Star-studded Cast

Leading the pack is Rob McClure as Nathan Detroit. McClure, a two-time Tony Award nominee known for his turns in A Christmas Story: The Musical and Mrs. Doubtfire, brings both comedic timing and vocal prowess to the role. Fans may recognize him from Broadway hits like The Mystery of Edwin Drood and Honeymoon in Vegas.

Joining McClure are:
• Ephraim Sykes as Sky Masterson. Fresh off his acclaimed Broadway performance in Hamilton, Sykes adds charisma and dance chops to the suave gambler.
• Mykal Kilgore as Nicely Nicely Johnson. Kilgore gained attention for The Wiz National Tour and is celebrated for his rich baritone and dynamic stage presence.
• Bianca Marroquín as Miss Adelaide. A longtime principal in Chicago, Marroquín brings her trademark sass and precision to the lovelorn singer.
• María Bilbao as Sarah Brown. Best known for her work in Sweeney Todd on Broadway, Bilbao’s warm soprano rounds out the romance at the heart of the story.

Broadway Powerhouses And Rising Stars

Ogunquit’s casting marries marquee names with emerging talent. McClure’s rich résumé spans television talk-show appearances, national tours, and leading roles on some of Broadway’s biggest stages. According to his biography, the Long Island native began his Broadway career in 2005 and has since proved his versatility in musicals and plays alike.

Ephraim Sykes made history as the first actor to perform the role of George Washington in Hamilton, while Mykal Kilgore’s gospel-tinged performances have earned him a devoted following. Both Marroquín and Bilbao are celebrated in the Latinx theater community for breaking barriers—Marroquín was the first Mexican actress to star in a major Broadway production of Chicago, and Bilbao has been a fixture in Tony-nominated revival casts.

Al Blackstone, the show’s director–choreographer, earned an Emmy for his work on So You Think You Can Dance and has helmed productions at regional theaters nationwide. His vision for Guys & Dolls includes fresh staging, inventive choreography, and an eye for ensemble storytelling.

Anticipation For Opening Night

Producers say remaining roles will be announced soon, building excitement as ticket sales continue. The Ogunquit Playhouse box office reports strong advance purchases, with special packages available for season-ticket holders.

Performances will run through July, offering audiences a chance to experience the high-stakes bets, romantic entanglements, and snapping ensemble numbers—like “Luck Be a Lady” and “Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat”—in a seaside New England setting.

Season subscribers and first-time visitors alike are encouraged to reserve seats early. Ogunquit Playhouse’s artistic director notes that the company is committed to maintaining health protocols and delivering a fully staged musical adventure.

Excitement is mounting among local theatergoers and visiting Broadway fans. Social media chatter highlights McClure’s playful audition clips and backstage rehearsal snapshots shared by the Playhouse, giving followers a behind-the-scenes peek at costume fittings and choreography run-throughs.

Whether you’re a die-hard musical theater buff or a casual fan, this production of Guys & Dolls aims to deliver laughter, romance, and toe-tapping dance numbers against the picturesque backdrop of Ogunquit’s historic waterfront venue.

From veteran performers to rising stars, this carefully curated ensemble underscores Ogunquit Playhouse’s reputation for blending Broadway polish with intimate community charm. Guys & Dolls returns to the Playhouse stage ready to prove that, even decades after its Broadway premiere, the show still bets on being a crowd-pleaser.

The lights go up June 19—don’t miss your chance to see Nathan Detroit, Sky Masterson, Miss Adelaide, Sarah Brown, and Nicely Nicely Johnson in a production that’s already generating buzz from New York to Maine. Ogunquit awaits.

Reserve your tickets today and be part of the excitement as this classic musical finds new life on a familiar stage at Ogunquit Playhouse.
