Sailing The Mediterranean

Kelly’s Instagram post opens with a playful caption: “Tower of Sax Pisa!!!! 🎷🤯,” crediting photographer Victoria Lily Shaffer for nailing the shot after they hunted for the perfect frame. The image shows Kelly holding her saxophone against the backdrop of Italy’s Leaning Tower of Pisa, a lighthearted nod to her instrument and destination.

Over the course of the trip, Kelly and her companions indulged in local cuisine and shopping sprees across France and Italy. Tagging café terraces in Nice and pasta spots in Florence, she documented plates of pasta, gelato cones and Parisian pastries, inviting fans to share their favorite eateries. This follows an earlier post from May, when she recapped a whirlwind tour of Majorca, Ibiza and Saint-Tropez before venturing to Livorno and Portofino.

While Kelly is best known for her Grammy-nominated jazz work—she began playing saxophone at age six and made her Carnegie Hall debut at 15—this Mediterranean leg of her journey doubled as both vacation and performance. Onboard concerts featured her original compositions and jazz standards, streamed live to fans worldwide.

Back In Los Angeles

After disembarking in Nice, Kelly flew into Los Angeles for a brief residency. She’s now in rehearsals gearing up for the Dave Koz Jazz Cruise, where she’ll join fellow saxophonist Dave Koz and a lineup of jazz luminaries on the high seas. Fans can catch her sets and even attend on-deck master classes.

Kelly hails from Boston and attended the Berklee College of Music before launching a global career that’s taken her to over 40 countries. In interviews she’s cited influences from Charlie Parker to Wayne Shorter, always blending virtuosic technique with warm, melodic storytelling.

Next Stops: Amsterdam, Norway & Iceland

Kelly’s itinerary points east again: Amsterdam, Norway and Iceland are up next, with dates to be announced via her social channels. In Amsterdam she plans intimate club shows; in Norway she’ll perform at the Molde International Jazz Festival; in Iceland she’s slated for a set at Reykjavik’s Harpa Concert Hall. Each stop promises a mix of local collaborations, spontaneous street performances and, inevitably, culinary discoveries.

As she balances life on the road, Kelly continues to release new music. Her latest single, “Midnight Voyager,” dropped earlier this spring and has already earned praise for its blend of smooth grooves and adventurous solos. She’s also teasing a full-length album slated for fall, produced in collaboration with top jazz arrangers.
