Award-winning actress Gillian Anderson is expanding her literary journey into women’s sexual expression with a call for submissions for her next book project. In a recent Instagram post, Anderson invited women from around the world to share their intimate fantasies for a follow-up to her successful anthology “Want.”

The “Sex Education” and “The Crown” star shared on her Instagram that her previous book “Want” gave thousands of women the freedom to talk about sex without shame; to see themselves in the words of strangers and to reflect on their own desires. It unlocked so much for so many, and it was just the beginning of a deeper conversation.”

A More International, More Daring Approach

Anderson’s new project aims to be even more inclusive than her previous work. “We want to throw the door wide open with another book, reaching more women, making it more international, and even more daring,” she wrote in her Instagram caption.

The actress emphasized that this new collection welcomes all experiences, regardless of whether potential contributors had submitted to her previous project or are discovering her work for the first time. “Maybe you wrote in last time but didn’t finish. Maybe you thought your fantasy would be too much, or not enough. Maybe you hadn’t even heard of our project until now,” Anderson noted, adding, “However you’ve come to it, and whatever your experience, I want to hear from you and I want to hear it all.”

Interested participants can submit their fantasies through the website DearGillian.com, as indicated in her post.

The Impact Of ‘Want’

Anderson’s first book in this series, “Want: Women’s Sexual Fantasies,” became a Sunday Times bestseller upon its release. The book compiled anonymous sexual fantasies submitted by women from around the world, creating a space for open conversation about female desire without judgment.

In a recent Instagram post, Anderson shared a quote from an interview with FAZ Quarterly where she discussed her literary work: “In recent years, I have published two books (‘We’ and ‘Want’), which, to put it simply, are manifestos for women.” She emphasized the importance of connection in today’s divided society, stating, “Let’s simply start by connecting with people in as many different ways as possible — professionally, privately, within our family, or among our friends.”

Bringing Fantasies To Life For Charity

Beyond the pages of her books, Anderson is using this platform for philanthropy. In a post from earlier this month, War Child UK announced “Most Wanted: Anonymous Letters,” an event hosted by Anderson at the Barbican Centre on July 9, 2025. The event will feature live readings of “unfiltered fantasies of women from around the world” with a cast of surprise friends joining Anderson on stage.

All profits from the event will support War Child UK’s work with children in conflict zones. Anderson serves as a Global Ambassador for the organization and has been actively promoting their Spring Clean fundraising initiative for a second year.

Expanding Her Creative Voice

At 56, Gillian Anderson continues to expand her creative and advocacy work beyond her acclaimed acting career. While she remains busy with acting projects—including the upcoming Channel 4 drama “Trespasses” described as “a brand new forbidden love story for the ages”—she has increasingly used her platform to advocate for women’s expression and sexual freedom.

The Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actress, best known for her iconic role as Dana Scully in “The X-Files” and more recently as Margaret Thatcher in “The Crown” and Jean Milburn in “Sex Education,” has built a reputation not just as a performer but as a voice for women’s empowerment.

With her latest call for submissions, Anderson continues her mission of creating space for women to express themselves freely. “Share your fantasy at DearGillian.com,” she concludes in her post, opening the door for a new collection of voices to join this ongoing conversation about desire, identity, and freedom of expression.
