Whitfield Joins Celebrity Golf Circuit

Dondré Whitfield took center stage away from the camera this week, trading his on-screen roles for a place on the tee at the Anthony Anderson Invitational. Hosted at GoldLinks Golf Club in Palm Desert, the event drew a blend of Hollywood talent, rising golf pros and sports influencers under the Southern California sun.

Still Swinging Where The Stars Play

“Still Swinging where the stars play—Palm Desert heat, Hollywood names, and my game holding its own at the Anthony Anderson Invitational. GoldLinks in the building, UGA National Team in the mix, and the mission bigger than golf. Cameras flashing, clubs cracking, culture moving,” Whitfield wrote on Instagram, capturing his weekend mood. His post paired a series of images showing him mid-swing, a group photo with fellow competitors and the desert backdrop dotted with palm trees.

Heat And Hollywood On The Fairway

Temperatures soared into the high 90s, but that didn’t deter the UGA National Team from showcasing their skill. These players, part of the Urban Golf Association’s touring squad, provided friendly competition and tips between shots. Anthony Anderson himself, an avid golfer and host, circulated through the field—high-fiving participants, posing for selfies and offering his own brand of motivational banter.

From Screen To Green

It’s no surprise Whitfield has embraced a love of golf. The Brooklyn-born actor, best known for his roles on The Cosby Show spinoff and long-running drama The Haves and the Have Nots, has discussed his passion for the game in interviews over the years. In golf circles, he’s often invited to celebrity pro-ams, where his commitment and competitive spirit stand out as much as his red-carpet presence.

A Growing Golf Resume

This isn’t Whitfield’s first taste of competition. In a recent Instagram update, he celebrated clinching first place in the Birdie flight at a CJG event in Inglewood, writing, “It’s always an adventure on the #golf course with me ‼️ the #fellowship is everything ‼️ Winning #FirstPlace in the #Birdie flight ain’t bad either.” Those snaps, showing him raising his club in triumph, underscored his steady improvement and genuine love for the sport.

Family Ties On The Fairway

Off-camera, golf is a family affair for Whitfield. He’s proud dad to a trio of talented juniors—his son recently topped the podium at the CJG Santa Clarita Open, earning first place among a field of Black junior golfers. In another post, he highlighted his son @drewhitfield_, who “took 1st place at the CJG Santa Clarita Open,” stressing the importance of honoring young champions and preserving their victories in the history books.

More Than Just A Game

For Whitfield, golf represents community and culture as much as competition. His Invitational caption noted that “the mission bigger than golf,” pointing to the way sports can bridge backgrounds and spark conversations across fields—from real estate deals discussed between swings to emerging initiatives spotlighted on the range.

Next Tee, Next Chapter

As cameras flashed and clubs cracked at GoldLinks, Whitfield kept his focus on every putt. With warm applause from celebrities, pros and fans alike, he demonstrated that his athletic drive matches his acting chops. Whether he’s delivering Emmy-worthy performances or sinking birdies under the desert sun, Dondré Whitfield continues to prove he’s still swinging—on screens and on greens—wherever the spotlight falls.
