Veteran character actor David Dastmalchian has offered fans a peek at his jam-packed genre lineup—ranging from his title-turn on Murderbot to upcoming monster mayhem and comic-book capers.
Murderbot Magic
Fresh off his role as the voice of security unit secUnit in Murderbot, Dastmalchian told Mike DeAngelo on The Playlist that on set, “we were there lifting each other up and supporting one another personally, while as scene partners, we were trying to elevate and support one another. And it was a beautiful alchemy.” He reinforced that sentiment on Instagram, celebrating the Apple TV+ debut: “murderbot is now on @appletv!”
Life Of Chuck Cameo
Dastmalchian also pops up in The Life of Chuck—Mike Flanagan’s latest adaptation of Stephen King material. Host Mike DeAngelo dubbed it his “favorite movie of the year.” Reflecting on the film’s emotional core, Dastmalchian shared on Instagram: “I am wonderful, I deserve to be wonderful, and I contain multitudes.” The movie is playing in theaters now.
Dexter: Resurrection Surprises
Next, he’s gearing up for a substantial role in Dexter: Resurrection on Showtime, where he promises a surprising departure from expectations. Details remain under wraps, but the actor teasingly insists viewers will see a different side of his range.
Dreaming Up Dust Bunny
Later this year, Dastmalchian will team with writer-director Bryan Fuller for Dust Bunny, a self-described creature feature alongside Mads Mikkelsen and Sigourney Weaver. “It’s [a monster movie], but it’s its own thing, man,” he said. “Bryan’s doing something completely different.”
Comic Book Ventures
Beyond film and TV, Dastmalchian is scripting the current run of Creature Commandos for DC Comics. He also has new titles with Marvel and Image, including Venomverse and the just released Knights vs. Samurai—projects that let him tap into his love of monsters, misfits and moral complexity.
As Dastmalchian balances screen performances with writing duties, his fans can look forward to a year packed with genre thrills and unexpected turns.
