David Arquette took to Instagram to share an exciting milestone in his clowning career – witnessing the vinyl pressing of his Bozo the Clown record at Licorice Pizza Records. The actor, who has embraced his alter ego with dedication, documented the special moment with a series of photos from the factory floor.
‘Incredible day! @realbozotheclown saw his record being pressed at the factory for @licoricepizzarecords,’ Arquette wrote in his enthusiastic caption, before going on to thank the team that made it possible.
Behind The Scenes At The Pressing Plant
The Instagram carousel shows Arquette in full Bozo regalia – complete with the character’s signature red nose, colorful costume, and iconic makeup – watching intently as vinyl records are manufactured. The images capture various stages of the record pressing process, with Arquette clearly delighted to see his passion project taking physical form.
In the photos, we can see the actor examining vinyl discs fresh off the press, the record’s artwork, and machinery used in the manufacturing process. The excitement is palpable as Bozo’s musical endeavor transforms from concept to tangible product.
Arquette was quick to acknowledge the collaborative nature of the project, thanking numerous contributors in his post. He gave special recognition to Graham Wheeler (tagged as @grahamwheelerz), whom he referred to as “Chippy’ the clown court conductor.’ Other contributors he mentioned include Bill Main, fellow clown performers Jozo and Nunu Bozo, Kenon Walker, and sound professionals from West End Sound.
In a touching personal note, Arquette also thanked his family members Charlie and Gus, who reportedly appear on the album, as well as his daughter Coco for her support. He concluded with a humorous apology to his wife Christina Arquette (tagged as @christinaarquette): ‘I’m so very sorry you married a clown.’
This record release represents another chapter in Arquette’s fascinating journey with the Bozo character. While many know Arquette for his acting career, including roles in the ‘Scream’ franchise and numerous other films and television shows, his connection to Bozo the Clown runs deep. In 2018, Arquette purchased the rights to the Bozo the Clown character, fulfilling a lifelong dream. Since then, he has embraced the role with genuine passion, bringing the beloved children’s entertainer to new audiences while honoring the character’s legacy.
The record, titled ‘No Bozos on the Beach’ according to a recent post from Dick Van Dyke (who has been supporting Arquette’s clown endeavors), appears to carry a positive message. Van Dyke mentioned in his post that the record begins with ‘Bozo talking about us all getting along,’ suggesting a theme of unity and kindness that aligns with the character’s cheerful persona.
Clowning Around At Coachella
Arquette’s Bozo has been particularly active recently. Just days before the record pressing announcement, he performed at Coachella as part of the Yo Gabba Gabba show. Arquette shared footage of this performance on Instagram, noting it was “the most electrifying performance of the festival” and ‘a pinch me moment.’ The actor also recently participated in ‘Vandy Camp,’ a celebration hosted by entertainment legend Dick Van Dyke and his wife Arlene Silver, where Arquette’s Bozo was photographed ‘catching air in Malibu.’
Another recent highlight for Bozo came when Arquette met Flavor Flav at Coachella, describing the encounter as ‘such a joy’ and noting that ‘Bozo had quite a debut’ at the festival.
Beyond The Big Red Nose
When not performing as Bozo, Arquette remains active in various charitable causes. He recently volunteered at the Los Angeles Food Bank for National Volunteer Month in partnership with Feeding America, and supported the Alexis Project’s Rainbow Dream Closet, a resource for the LGBTQ+ community in Los Angeles.
For Arquette, the Bozo persona seems to represent more than just entertainment – it’s a vehicle for spreading joy and kindness. His enthusiasm for the character and this latest milestone with the vinyl record pressing demonstrates his commitment to keeping the spirit of classic clowning alive in contemporary culture.
As the vinyl record makes its way to fans, it marks another colorful chapter in Arquette’s unexpected but heartfelt journey as the guardian and performer of one of America’s most recognizable clown characters.
