A Dark New Look

Voice actress Cristina Vee stunned fans with a new horror-inspired portrait on Instagram, marking one of her most atmospheric visuals to date. In the September 7 post, Vee’s gaze is locked on the audience, her face half-consumed by dramatic shadow and flickers of crimson highlights. Glossy red lipstick curves into a knowing smirk, while subtle prosthetic accents around the eyes evoke a faint hint of the supernatural. She paired the image with the simple but potent caption: “The horrors persist / Yet so do I 😌,” fusing gothic sensibility with a message of endurance.

Creative Collaboration

The shoot was a team effort led by photographer Bing Putney, whose editorial work is recognized for its cinematic lighting and moody compositions. Putney’s chiaroscuro technique casts angular shadows that carve out Vee’s silhouette, recalling frames from classic horror cinema. Makeup artist Cassandra Paige contributed painstaking detail work, layering realistic blood flecks, smoky contouring and delicate faux wounds that tread the line between beauty and the grotesque. Together, the trio crafted a series of images that speak to fans of both high-fashion photography and genre storytelling.

Voice Star’s Visual Venture

Cristina Vee boasts a resume of some of anime’s most beloved characters: Marinette/Ladybug in Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, Sailor Mars in Sailor Moon, and Verosika Mayday in Helluva Boss. Other credits listed on her online profile include Killua Zoldyck in Hunter × Hunter, Homura Akemi in Puella Magi Madoka Magica, and recurring roles in major video game franchises such as Genshin Impact and League of Legends. Off the mic, Vee commands a community of over 1.2 million Instagram followers and uses her platform to share singing covers, behind-the-scenes studio clips and personal updates.

In February, she announced on her feed that “Ladybug is landing at Anime Riverside!” inviting Miraculous fans, Sailor Moon OGs and Helluva Boss diehards to catch her at Riverside Convention Center on June 1, 2025. Soon after, she confirmed a full weekend schedule at Washington State Summer Con from June 20–22, promising autograph sessions, exclusive photo ops and panel discussions where attendees can learn about her voice acting process.

From Booth To Camera

While Cristina Vee is celebrated for her vocal performances, she has steadily built a reputation as a multimedia creator. Her official YouTube channel features pop-culture covers and candid studio vlogs, showcasing her adeptness in audio production and performance. She’s also credited with voice directing select English dubs, demonstrating an eye for narrative flow and character consistency. The new horror shoot follows earlier photo experiments in fantasy and sci-fi genres, reflecting Vee’s interest in visually inhabitable worlds. Through collaboration with costume designers, prop builders and makeup artists, she translates animated energy into tangible on-camera presence, blurring the line between voice work and visual art.

Fans flocked to the comments section of the horror post, leaving messages like “Absolutely mesmerized by this look,” “Iconic horror vibes!” and “Can’t wait to see what you do next.” In a behind-the-scenes story, Vee shared outtakes of crew laughter and playful bloopers, underscoring the fun atmosphere on set despite the eerie final result.

Looking Ahead

This portrait series is just the opening chapter of what Vee teases will be an ongoing visual narrative. Putney and Paige have hinted at forthcoming drops featuring new themes and additional creative collaborators. As her convention tour unfolds and fresh artwork emerges, Cristina Vee reaffirms that versatility and resilience—from surviving fictional scares to reinventing her own image—are at the core of her artistic journey.
