In a heartfelt Instagram post, supermodel Carol Alt revealed a more personal side of herself, reflecting on her journey from being a studious teenager to embracing her innate artistic nature.
From Bookworm To Creative Soul
The 63-year-old model and actress shared that during her high school years, she was primarily focused on academics, particularly science and math, which were highly valued in her family. Alt recalled how her mother questioned why she wasn’t taking advanced calculus and a second language during her senior year.
“It’s funny how life takes twists and turns,” Alt wrote in her Instagram caption. “When I was a teenager in high school, I was a bookworm. Science, math – those were the important things to my family.”
The post features a video displaying creative work, highlighting the artistic talents of her collaborator, Ezequiel de la Rosa, whom she tagged in the post.
Discovering Her Artistic Nature
Despite her academic background, Alt revealed that she believes she has “always been an artist” at heart. She expressed how engaging in creative activities gives her “a sense of well-being” and makes her feel more fulfilled.
“Painting my apartment and building tables and picking couches and chairs made me realize that if I’m not being creative, I kind of curl up – I’m not as shiny as I should be!” she shared, adding that she plans to show pictures of her finished apartment, which has been in progress for about a year and a half.
In the video accompanying her post, Alt acknowledges her collaborator Ezequiel de la Rosa’s creativity, noting that she personally “can’t draw a straight line with a ruler” but greatly appreciates those who can.
A Versatile Career Beyond Modeling
Carol Alt rose to prominence in the modeling world in the 1980s, becoming one of the most recognized supermodels of her era. She appeared on over 500 magazine covers, including the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
Beyond modeling, Alt has diversified her career into acting, business ventures, and writing. She has authored books on raw food diets and healthy living, appeared in various films and television shows, and has been a consistent presence in the entertainment industry for decades.
Recent Creative Collaborations
Looking at Alt’s recent Instagram activity, she has been working closely with Ezequiel de la Rosa on various creative projects. Just days before this post, Alt shared videos from shoots at Ez Studios, which she mentioned had been recently refurbished.
In another recent post, Alt showcased her fashion sense with boots from The Confessional Showroom NYC, wearing an outfit by Manuel Golla, with photography and video by de la Rosa. She expressed her love for boots, writing, “You can take the most drab mundane outfit (which is definitely not this one!) and you can make it sexy with boots.”
Balancing Different Worlds
Alt’s reflection on her journey from academics to embracing her artistic side reveals a common human experience of discovering new facets of oneself throughout life. Despite being raised with an emphasis on traditional academic subjects, she found fulfillment in creative expression.
This journey mirrors her professional evolution as well – from being primarily known as a supermodel to expanding her presence across various creative and entrepreneurial ventures.
In a recent post honoring Pope Francis, Alt also revealed her spiritual side, writing about kindness and peace, showing yet another dimension to her multifaceted personality.
As Alt prepares to reveal her apartment renovation, fans can look forward to seeing more of her creative expression through interior design. Her post serves as a reminder that it’s never too late to embrace hidden talents and passions, even when they differ from what was expected or encouraged earlier in life.
