Powerlifting legend C.T. Fletcher has officially announced the ISCA World Strict Curl Championships scheduled for May 31st, 2025. In a significant development for the sport, Fletcher confirmed that the competition will serve as an official qualifier for the prestigious Arnold Sports Festival.

The announcement came through Fletcher’s Instagram account where he invited athletes and spectators to the Valley of the Beast for what promises to be a major event in the strict curl discipline.

Championship Details And Qualifications

The championship, organized in conjunction with @ctfletcher.isca, will feature the coveted Big Daddy Award, described as “the most prestigious award in strict curling.” According to Fletcher’s post, the award will be presented to the most deserving athlete, as chosen by Leslee Schoenberger.

What makes this announcement particularly significant for competitors is the newly established pathway to the Arnold Sports Festival. Fletcher confirmed that the championship will now serve as an Arnold Qualifier, allowing top performers to advance to what he describes as “the biggest stage in strict curl.”

Maintaining Traditional Strict Curl Standards

Fletcher emphasized that the ISCA adheres rigorously to the original strict curl ruleset. In his announcement, he noted the uncompromising standards of the competition: “ISCA does not compromise, we adhere to the original rules of strict curl, head, back and butt must remain in contact with the wall at all times, during the lift.”

The competition will exclusively use the original Ivanko OBZ bar during the championship, maintaining what Fletcher proudly calls “the strictest rule set in strict curl today.” This commitment to traditional standards ensures that champions crowned at this event are truly among the elite, strict curlers globally.
