Broadway talent is joining forces for a cause this summer as a star-studded lineup prepares to take the stage for a special benefit concert supporting unhoused pregnant women and their children.

The Instagram post from Harvest Home LA announces “Broadway Voices Unite,” a charity event scheduled for Sunday, June 22, at The Broad Stage in Santa Monica. The concert will feature an impressive roster of Broadway and entertainment stars coming together to support the nonprofit organization’s mission.

The benefit concert will showcase performances by Tony Award winner Alex Newell, actor and comedian Jason Alexander, actress and writer Rachel Bloom, and voice actor Troy Baker, among other talents. The event promises to be “an unforgettable benefit concert,” according to the announcement.

The Instagram post describes the event as “a night of music, a mission of love,” highlighting the dual purpose of entertainment and humanitarian aid.

The concert will be co-hosted and produced by Merle Dandridge alongside Seth Rudetsky, with additional production from James Wesley Jackson and Stars in the House. Lee Martino will direct the production, while technology company Waymo will present the event.

Merle Dandridge brings significant Broadway credentials to her role as host. The actress and singer has an impressive career spanning theater, television, and video games. According to her Wikipedia page, Dandridge has starred in Broadway productions including “Jesus Christ Superstar,” “Aida,” “Rent,” and “Spamalot.” Most recently, she returned to Broadway in the Tony Award-winning musical “Hadestown” as Persephone, a role she celebrated in a March 2024 Instagram post marking the first day of spring.

Dandridge wrote, “Welcome back, Dear Spring and Lady Persephone. Oh how we’ve missed you. And gosh, how great it is to be back on Broadway!” Her theatrical experience makes her a natural fit to host a Broadway-themed benefit.

The benefit concert comes at a time when housing insecurity continues to affect vulnerable populations across Los Angeles. Harvest Home LA specifically focuses on pregnant women experiencing homelessness, providing them with shelter, support, and resources during pregnancy and early motherhood.

For those interested in supporting the cause, tickets and VIP access are available through the Harvest Home LA website at harvesthomela.org/broadwayvoicesunite. The Instagram post indicates that more information can also be found through the link in Harvest Home LA’s bio.

The Broadway Voices Unite concert continues this spirit of community support, channeling artistic talents toward helping some of the most vulnerable members of society.
