Celebrated Comedy Veteran
Bill Bellamy has established himself as a major figure in American comedy and entertainment over several decades. He first gained prominence as a VJ on MTV and is credited with coining the phrase “booty call” during a comedy routine.
The 60-year-old comedian, actor, and television host has appeared in numerous films including “How to Be a Player,” “Love Jones,” and “Any Given Sunday.” His television career includes hosting shows like “Last Comic Standing” and starring in series such as “Fastlane” and “Hot in Cleveland.”
More recently, he has been involved in film projects, including “The Worst Christmas Ever,” which he promoted in a previous Instagram post. The film features a cast that includes Taja V. Simpson, BJ Britt, Tamala Jones, and Shanti Lowry.
On Tour Across America
The Brea Improv shows are part of Bellamy’s ongoing comedy tour across the United States. In April, he performed at Stand Up Live in Phoenix, where he joked about braving the desert heat: “100 degrees in the desert but I’m still cool….”
Bellamy recently celebrated his birthday with what was described as an “epic” party at JAX’s on Ventura. The celebration, organized by various entertainment entities including Hollywood Live Entertainment, drew a packed house according to social media posts.
Fans have been showing strong support at his performances, with one collaborator noting after a Columbus show: “#columbus you showed up and showed love!! We all appreciate ya!!!”
In Clarksburg, Bellamy performed at the Robinson Grand venue, which he described as “beautiful,” though he playfully suggested the town needed “a damn nightclub” for post-show entertainment.
For comedy fans in Southern California, the May shows at Brea Improv present an opportunity to experience Bellamy’s distinctive comedic style in person, possibly alongside surprise special guests.
