Reflecting On One Month Of Loss
Model and actress AzMarie Livingston turned to Instagram this week to share her feelings one month after the passing of her mother, Erika P. Livingston. In a heartfelt post captured in a simple but powerful image, she wrote, ‘It still replays like it just happened. The quiet without her voice is the kind that lingers. Not being able to call my mom… that’s been the hardest part.’ Using the hashtags #GriefAndGrace, #StillWithMe and #OneMonthWithoutYou, Livingston underlined how love and loss can coexist in profound ways.
A Journey Through Hospice To Farewell
In late April, Livingston paused her busy schedule to devote herself to her mother’s care. On Instagram she noted, ‘It’s been a quiet season here—one of deep care, reflection, and presence. The entire month of April has kept me focused entirely on supporting my mother and now she has transitioned into hospice care.’ She added, ‘Not seeking sympathy, just sharing with transparency and warmth. Holding onto gratitude and grace throughout this journey. Take gentle care of your hearts, everyone.’ This period of close, daily attention laid the groundwork for the family’s intimate farewell.
Honoring Erika P. Livingston’s Legacy
Erika P. Livingston peacefully passed away on Tuesday, May 13th, as AzMarie shared in an earlier Instagram announcement. Following her mother’s wishes, the family held a private burial ceremony on Friday, May 16th, in Milwaukee. Plans are already set for a Celebration of Life Memorial on June 20th in Milwaukee, with a subsequent west coast gathering to allow friends and family across the country to pay their respects.
Finding Purpose In Work And Faith
Despite the weight of grief, Livingston says her faith and her career have offered her a steady anchor. In her latest post she credits ‘work, purpose and quiet signs she’s still with me’ for helping her navigate this chapter. Fans of the BET+ drama series Family Business: New Orleans have seen AzMarie as Elle Morgan, a role that has kept her engaged on set and connected to colleagues who have offered support. Her ongoing commitment to performance and her belief that her mother is ‘pulling strings from heaven’ have provided solace amid sadness.
Balancing Grief With A Growing Career
Hailing from Chicago and raised partly in Houston, Livingston first captured public attention on Cycle 10 of America’s Next Top Model in 2008. She went on to study design at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles before launching a modeling career that landed editorials for Vogue Italia and high-profile runways in New York Fashion Week. Transitioning into acting, she has guest-starred on Glee, Ugly Betty and 2 Broke Girls, and currently leads as Elle Morgan on Family Business: New Orleans. Maintaining these creative endeavors amid personal challenges underscores her resilience and the healing power of purpose.
Looking Ahead To Memorial Celebrations And Healing
As she prepares to honor her mother’s life, Livingston invites followers to find comfort in shared memories and the small signs that keep loved ones close. In closing her one-month remembrance, she reaffirmed, ‘This grief is layered, but so is the love she left behind. Still holding on to that.’ With public and private commemorations on the horizon, she and her family are poised to transform grief into a collective celebration of Erika’s light and legacy.
