In the world of comedy, even provocateurs have their boundaries. Stand-up comedian Ari Shaffir, known for his unfiltered approach to comedy, recently shared a clip on Instagram revealing that at least one celebrity remains ‘off limits’ in his act. In the brief video clip posted to his Instagram account, Shaffir declares that rap icon Snoop Dogg is a topic he won’t touch in his comedy. The post, simply captioned ‘@snoopdog was off limits…’ along with hashtags #comedy #eastcoast #arishaffir #standup, shows Shaffir addressing an audience during what appears to be one of his East Coast performances.
Who Is Ari Shaffir?
For those unfamiliar with Shaffir, he’s built a reputation as an edgy, boundary-pushing comedian. Ari Shaffir is an American stand-up comedian, actor, podcaster, and writer. Born on February 12, 1974, he first gained wider recognition as a regular performer at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles.
Shaffir is perhaps best known for creating and hosting the storytelling show and podcast ‘This Is Not Happening’ that was eventually picked up by Comedy Central. He’s also the host of his own podcast, ‘Skeptic Tank,’ where he dives into various topics with guest comedians and friends. Over the years, Shaffir has released several comedy specials including ‘Passive Aggressive,’ ‘Paid Regular,’ ‘Double Negative,’ and ‘Jew.’ His comedy style is often described as provocative and controversial, frequently tackling sensitive subjects with a no-holds-barred approach.
Current Tour And Activities
Based on his recent Instagram activity, Shaffir appears to be in the midst of his ‘Farewell Tour.’ A post from his account a few days ago announced, ‘LAST DATES ON THE FAREWELL TOUR!’ mentioning upcoming shows in Anchorage, AK and Charlestown, WV. Shaffir has also been busy with his podcast ‘You Be Trippin,’ recently featuring comedians like Greg Fitzsimmons, Emma Willmann, and Mark Gagnon. In one recent episode, Shaffir and Gagnon discussed their trip to the United Arab Emirates.
Additionally, Shaffir’s storytelling show seems to be attracting sold-out audiences. A recent post mentioned: ‘Get your Box checked. Only a few 🎟️ left for Monday and Tuesday of @arishaffir’s renamed storytelling show. Tonight is SOLD OUT at @theboxnyc… these lineups are insane.’
Supporting Fellow Comedians
Shaffir has also been showing support for his fellow comedians. He recently promoted Tim Dillon’s new Netflix special, “I’m Your Mother,” with a characteristically edgy caption: “America’s biggest child predator hunter has a new special out today on the network that currently streams 15 projects by Harvey Weinstein.”
He also appeared on the popular comedy podcast “Kill Tony,” proudly declaring, “I left it all on stage for you! More than any guest has ever left.”
While Shaffir typically pushes boundaries in his comedy, his declaration about Snoop Dogg being ‘off limits’ suggests that even the most provocative comedians have their lines they won’t cross. Whether this is out of respect, personal preference, or other reasons remains unclear from the brief clip.
As Shaffir continues his East Coast tour dates and podcast episodes, fans can expect his typical blend of provocative humor – just don’t expect any jokes about Snoop Dogg in the mix.
