This week, Ardie Fuqua joined Steve Byrne and Marcelo Hernández for an off-the-cuff reunion on the dimly lit stage of Manhattan’s Comedy Cellar. The trio, who’ve long referred to themselves as a comedy family, served up a mix of rapid-fire banter, crowd work and behind-the-scenes stories.

Show Of Comedy Camaraderie

Under the Cellar’s signature brick wall backdrop, Fuqua kicked off the set with a riff on juggling touring life and fatherhood. Byrne—credited on Instagram by Fuqua as @stevebyrnelive—jumped in with a quip about life on the road, teasing new material from his upcoming special. Marcelo Hernández (@marcellohdz) rounded out the trio, weaving in sharp observations about modern dating apps and pop-culture ironies.

Fuqua posted a photo of the three grinning into the camera mid-show, captioning it simply, “FAMILY! Credit to @stevebyrnelive Always great to do a set and catch up at @comedycellarusa w the boys @marcellohdz @ardiefuqua #truestory #family #comedians #comedycellar #villageunderground #purelife #everythingisbeautiful #iseeyou.” The image shows the comics leaning close, mics in hand, framed by the venue’s low ceiling and exposed brick—a snapshot of late-night New York stand-up in full swing.

Veteran Meets Rising Stars

Byrne, a veteran of Comedy Central specials and creator of the one-man show Tell the Damn Joke, brought seasoned stagecraft to the night. He’s appeared on series like Sons of Anarchy and co-hosts the podcast “A Drink With Steve.” Hernández, who’s built a loyal following with appearances on SiriusXM’s What’s Up Tiger Lily? and sets at Gotham Comedy Club, balanced Byrne’s polished delivery with his own off-the-cuff rhythm.

Fuqua, meanwhile, has carved out a unique niche. Known to some audiences for choreographing Insane Clown Posse’s tours and to others for his digital-series work, he’s equally at home telling stories about comic-club life and family milestones. In January, Fuqua headlined a sold-out night at Los Angeles’s Laugh Factory; here in New York, the energy felt just as electric.

Next Stops On The Tour

Hashtags in Fuqua’s caption hinted at a Village Underground date, and Byrne confirmed on his Instagram Story that the three will reunite in London this summer. Village Underground, a former warehouse turned music and comedy venue in Shoreditch, will host their next “family” showcase on July 18.

For fans, the Comedy Cellar appearance was a reminder of why these comics keep coming back to the same room. “There’s something about this place,” Byrne said in a follow-up video clip. “You can’t replicate its intimacy.” Fuqua added, “Every time I set foot here, it feels like homecoming with brothers.”

With each punchline and callback, the evening underscored how stand-up duos and trios evolve into tight-knit ensembles—leaning on one another’s timing, trusting in each other’s instincts, and sharing the unspoken language of late-night comedy.

As the night wrapped, the Cellar’s lights dimmed further, and the group lingered for photos and fan autographs. For now, New York audiences can revel in the memory of that family-style set; next stop, London awaits.

A powerhouse collab in a storied room, and more shows are already on the horizon for this comedy clan—proof that for them, the real punchline is friendship.
