Actress Amy Bailey took to the Texas Capitol to advocate for expanding film and media production opportunities across the state, joining a panel of industry professionals to support House Bill 4568.

In an Instagram post shared by the actress, Bailey revealed she was one of several entertainment industry professionals advocating for media industry growth in Texas. The image shows her speaking at what appears to be a legislative session at the Capitol.

Star-studded Support For Texas Media Industry

“I was honoured to speak at the Capitol again this session in support of #HB4568,” Bailey wrote in her Instagram caption. “There were some snazzy people on our panel (looking at you Woody, Quaid, and McC…and you @chrisjuen shoutout @thechosentvseries!), but I was there mostly as a mom, wife, and daughter of aging parents.”

Bailey, best known for her role as Queen Kwenthrith in the History Channel series “Vikings,” emphasized her personal stake in the legislation, noting she doesn’t want to be “away from them working for 3-6 months because our state doesn’t have enough industry jobs.”

Economic Impact Of Media Production

The actress highlighted the significant economic benefits that media production brings to local communities. “Many folks don’t realize how much money Media (tv, film, animation, video games, commercials etc) BRINGS IN to local economies. The ROI is amazing!” she explained.

Bailey clarified that the goal isn’t to replicate Hollywood in Texas but rather to create sustainable employment for Texas residents. “None of us are trying to bring Hollywood to Texas…we want jobs for TEXANS. Local talent, local trades people, local businesses – with opportunities for steady salaries all across the state, not just the big cities,” she wrote.

The post indicates Bailey’s ongoing commitment to advocating for Texas’s creative industries, referring to this as speaking at the Capitol “again this session.”

From Vikings To Advocacy

Amy Bailey has built a diverse career in television and film. She is best known for portraying Queen Kwenthrith in the History Channel series Vikings. The British actress has appeared in multiple television productions and continues to balance her acting career with family life in Texas.

Beyond her on-screen work, Bailey has been active in community building within the entertainment industry. In December 2023, she helped organize the Texas Viking Festival, which brought together several of her former “Vikings” castmates including Linus Roache, Peter Franzén, Jasper Pääkkönen, and Moe Dunford.

Looking Forward

Bailey’s advocacy for House Bill 4568 represents her commitment to strengthening Texas’s position in the entertainment industry while creating opportunities for local talent. For more information on media industry initiatives in Texas, Bailey directed followers to @mediafortexas, which she described as “the real experts on all things related to our Industry economy.”

The actress closed her post with an enthusiastic “Yeeeehaw!” and the hashtag #ComeAndFilmIt, a play on Texas’s famous “Come and Take It” slogan, highlighting her passion for bringing more production to the Lone Star State.

As the bill moves through the legislative process, Bailey’s testimony alongside other industry professionals demonstrates the growing momentum behind efforts to expand Texas’s media production capabilities and create jobs for local creative professionals.
