In a thought-provoking Instagram post, actor and former NFL player Devale Ellis has sparked a conversation about judgment, forgiveness, and the concept of selective grace in society. The post comes in response to the public criticism Meagan Good has been facing regarding her relationship with actor Jonathan Majors.

Ellis shared that during a recent episode of his “Ellis Ever After” podcast with his wife Khadeen, they received a question about the social media backlash Good is experiencing due to her relationship with Majors, who was convicted of harassment and assault in December 2023.

Rather than directly weighing in on Good and Majors’ relationship, Ellis redirected the conversation to broader questions about forgiveness and second chances.

“It led ME to want to ask a question to you guys…Have you ever had a moment or made a decision that you instantly wish you could have taken back? If you have experienced a moment like that, what would you do if EVERYONE chose to remind you of that moment in perpetuity?” Ellis asked his followers.

He then posed perhaps his most pointed question: “If everyone deserves grace, why is it only afforded to a select few?”

In the image accompanying the post, Ellis and his wife Khadeen can be seen in what appears to be their podcast recording setup, engaged in conversation about this complex topic.

Ellis made it clear that his questioning of selective grace shouldn’t be misinterpreted, emphasizing, “And NO!!! We do not in any way condone domestic violence.”

This isn’t the first time Ellis has used his platform to spark meaningful dialogue. In recent posts, he and Khadeen have tackled various societal issues, including racism, friendship dynamics, and personal growth.

Just days before this post, Ellis shared another thought-provoking question about racism, writing, “Kay Kay & I love the fact that companies and people are becoming more overt with their racism. Let us know where you stand from the beginning so we know where to spend our time and money.”

The couple’s podcast, “Ellis Ever After,” regularly features these types of discussions, balancing heavier topics with lighter content about their family life with their four sons.

Beyond his professional life, Ellis frequently shares glimpses of his family life with his wife Khadeen and their four sons. Recent posts show him helping his son Jackson with sports training, highlighting his transition to being what he calls a “track dad.”

“As long as he’s smiling at the end of these 9 hour days I’ll keep pulling this wagon and pitching this tent. I’m officially a track dad now,” Ellis wrote in a post showing his sons practicing track and field.

The Ellis family has built a significant social media following through their authentic content that balances humor, family dynamics, and discussions on societal issues.

As for the original post about grace and forgiveness, Ellis encouraged followers to listen to the full episode of the podcast available on Patreon or other podcast platforms.

The post has already generated substantial engagement, as followers weigh in on the complex questions of judgment, forgiveness, and whether society extends grace equally to all who seek redemption or second chances.
