Veteran comedian Jeff Ross, known as “The Roastmaster General,” has announced his return to touring after what he describes as a “three decade hiatus.” The announcement came via Instagram, where Ross shared his excitement.
In his post, Ross expressed both enthusiasm and nervousness about his upcoming tour, simply writing “Goosebumps” to describe his feelings about returning to regular touring after such an extended break. The comedian revealed that tour tickets will be available for pre-sale starting April 25, using a banana emoji to punctuate his announcement.
Ross took time to thank numerous individuals who encouraged him to return to touring. In his post, he specifically credited Amy Zvi, Mark Kessler, and several others including Stacy Mark, Susan Weaving, Louis Fernanda, as well as organizations like the New York Comedy Festival. He acknowledged these supporters for “pushing me to do this show again after a three decade hiatus,” suggesting that his return to regular touring wasn’t entirely his own initiative but came with considerable encouragement from his professional circle.
Ross has remained active in comedy despite not touring extensively. His recent Instagram posts show he’s been performing at venues like the Brea Improv and has shows scheduled at Stand Up Live in Phoenix from May 23-25, where a percentage of ticket sales will benefit charities including the Arizona Humane Society, Comedy Gives Back, and Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
In a post from earlier this month, Ross referenced the historic Emmy nomination for “The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady,” noting it was “the first time a roast has been nominated for an Emmy.” The special was nominated alongside major television events including the Oscars, Tonys, Grammys, and Super Bowl Halftime Show.
Ross has also been instrumental in popularizing the “Roast Battle” format, which has become a worldwide comedy movement. In recent posts, he’s shared clips of himself roasting Chicago comedians during a Roast Battle event, demonstrating his continued influence on this comedy subgenre.
While specific tour dates beyond the pre-sale announcement haven’t been shared, fans can likely expect Ross’s trademark roasting style combined with the stand-up material he’s been refining at recent comedy club appearances. His recent performances at venues like Largo Los Angeles and the Brea Improv have helped him prepare for this larger return to touring.
For fans interested in securing tickets, the April 25 pre-sale date will be their first opportunity to see the Roastmaster General as he makes his official return to touring after thirty years.
As one recent commenter noted on his Instagram, “The Roastmaster General never disappoints,” setting high expectations for this long-awaited tour.
